Cold calling into the company your interviewing with ๐Ÿ‘ or ๐Ÿ‘Ž ?

I've got quite a few applications out there that I haven't heard back from yet and I know it's a pretty competitive job searching market right now. So is me looking up the hiring manager/sales director/recruiter on ZoomInfo and cold calling them about my application a great way to set myself apart as a sales rep with persistence and ability to prospect? Or is it desperate?

As long as you are prepared and not just saying โ€œI saw the job posting and wanted to say Hiโ€

I'm ambivalent, because it could go very well, or you could be just another one of many applicants who are doing the same thing. Everyone is trying to stand out by calling/messaging/connecting with the hiring managers, and they're most likely getting bombarded. So you'll have to be on point if they pick up in order for them to pull your resume out. Make sure you know what you want to say.

Good luck.

I was looking for the Meh option on the poll too.

Meh should probably be an option on all polls.

Update on this: I got a hold of the director at the company I'm interviewing with and she appreciated the call. She gave me good candid feedback on where I'm at in the process but said the call went a long way for her

It'll most likely set yourself apart from the pack, but it's gonna depend on multiple variables - in no particular order - your personality, their personality, mood, timing, sense of humor, etc. Could go either way IMO. ๐Ÿคจ

For the most part I feel like this is true of the interview process as well. Might as well pattern interrupt and try something new!

so i think its risky.

if you are really good and really confident it can help for sure.

but if you dont crush it....most likely will hurt you haha.

If youโ€™re concerned about nailing the cold call try vidyard. You can re record til you get it right, find their email or LinkedIn and send it โ€ฆ will set you apart similar to a cold call and also show more of your personality (expressions, body language). Iโ€™ve done this a few times and the response is always โ€œNO ONE does thisโ€.. in a good way.

Itโ€™s more likely that people are not doing that. I have a friend who did this exact thing to get the job he currently has at Docusign and the hiring manager loves the fact he did it so much he got to skip multiple steps in the interview process.
Just like any cold call, it depends on the person tho and some people may hate it but at the end of the day you miss 100% of the shots you donโ€™t take.

If you have a good pitch for them, it's not a bad idea. I would give someone an interview if they cold called me and actually had a good pitch asking for an interview.

Iโ€™m a sales manager and Iโ€™ve been waiting for someone to do this to me and no one has. So I think itโ€™s a good differentiator. Iโ€™d love to see someone do something a bit more aggressive and see if they can handle it.

I was considering doing this with the co-founder of a small startup and found his contact info via Apollo. I've already had an initial interview with a member of the company in which they stated they had no problem moving me to the next round. Do you think that would be too much if I reached out to the co-founder via cold call? We've already connected on Linkedin but I really want to express to him just how much I want the job.
