Cold Calling - Not Just for BDRs

Hello Everyone!

It is easy to get complacent and comfortable with your team of BDRs lining up meetings for you each week. I know I will never miss the days of prospecting for 2 hours each day trying to build up my own pipeline in a pre-BDR world.

Thankfully now I only need to cold call 3 days a week for about an hour and do other methods of outbound to compliment it.

With that being said, it's good to stay fresh and it's even better to make bigger bucks on leads you bring in all on your own.

Do any AEs here still cold call? If so, what your top tip?

I rarely hear from our BD team. I prospect daily.ย

Love to hear that! Is there a specific technique you have that really works for you?

I do. Our inbound is terrible and our outsourced SDR team gets me about 1 meeting a quarter

It's been a while, but we don't really prioritize them. Kind of just an added bonus if we get one. I just pretend that they don't exist. Do my own prospecting and get a few inbounds

I am sure not matter how hard your BDR works, AE still does prospecting.ย

That is true! But sometimes it is easy to get complacent or stick to your emails - do you do a lot of outbound cold calling?

Act as if you don't have a BDR and your only way to hit your goal is to prospect and build your own pipeline. Anything that comes for an S/BDR is gravy.

If youโ€™re relying solely on your BDโ€™s youโ€™re gonna get crushed by AEโ€™s who still hunt.
Plus this is a tool you never want to lose.

I agree! That is why I don't like to get complacent and still do my own outbound, just not the 2 hours per day like I used to. Do you have a strategy that works for you?

We don't have a BD team, I source all my own prospects.

Hell yeah. I don't want to solely rely on XDRs to hit my fill my pipeline/hit quota.

I don't do cold calling, but I do networking on LinkedIn, even though I do have my own BDR.ย

Team of bdrโ€™s? Who has that?

I used to not! Having the team supporting me has helped me focus more on meetings and strategy and has cut my cold calling to just an hour a day 3 days a week.
