Do LinkedIn testimonials help

Hi Savages!


While cleaning up my profile for the job search, I am trying to understand the importance of LinkedIn testimonials.


I have worked with two startups over the last three years and can ask some team members who worked closely with me for testimonials. I have two awesome ones from the head of product and head of marketing from the seed stage startup where I was head of sales.


Do you think it's worth asking for the favor?


Wondering if I should ask more.

I've never once looked at the testimonials/recommendations area of a candidate.

If feel like its an added plus, if you want to ask a prior manager might as well it takes 5 seconds to text them.

It wont hurt and could only help, but I dont think thats the silver bullet to landing a role

it doesn't hurt, but I have never seen anyone hired based on LI testimonials.

I would prefer to ask the favor for them to be a real reference, not a LI one.

It’s good to have irrespective of it’s helpful or not. I know some big companies visits your profile and I am sure they go through all the sections including testimonials.

Having it is nice and not having it ain't terrible either.
I just consider it as a dessert beside the main plate when it comes to a solid resume!
