Do you prefer to type or write while on call?

Hey folks,

While on a call, there's a lot going on - you're actively listening, trying to figure your hooks, handle objections, watch your tone etc. But I'm pretty sure you also want to jot down points to refer to later. Do you prefer to do this digitally (type it on your phone/laptop) or you have your handy notebook with you to later add to your CRMs?

I know these days there are AI softwares, but they don't work with most Asian accents, so their transcribing is painfully off.

Both! Mostly typing though - there are few notes taking app that can be embedded with templates that can save you some time as well.

I type most of the info. However, complex stuff gets noted down

If the call is recorded, the best thing you can do is give your full attention to the prospect and then write down what seems most relevant to you.
If not, try to write the words that are the most key and ask the following questions to save time while you write.

I scribble. The act of physically writing also helps me remember later on. Then I retype the important notes into the CRM, further helping my memory.

Depends on the situation, however I have found that writing is more helpful in the moment then transferring to CRM after the call.

i use to be a big time type guy. THEN

i got the Remarkable 2 tablet and ive been writting notes ever since. its easier for me to structure on the fly and i feel like i retain things better when i write things out.

although i do have to enter it into the CRM again, ive noticed that the first notes that I take are not the notes that anyone else would care about haha.

so having to enter it into the CRM again helps me make sure that ONLY the key points are shared.

Good point! I do take a number of notes, some personal, that never make it into the CRM, but I can use later on in conversation.

I am a big fan of typing, i have an agenda in a word doc and type notes into the sections, then copy/paste into the CRM...the last step I forget a lot

I can type basically unconsciously, so I default to it so I can take notes while maintaining virtual eye contact lol

I write. I cant type and listen and make too many mistakes when doing so. When I write, I can read my own chicken scratch and fix it after because I write on an iPad.

Really depends on if I have a deck up and what I need on my second screen.

I also hate the sound of typing if Iโ€™m on the other end, so I try to be conscious of this.

I typically write because it is easier to see it as taking notes as opposed to a prospect thinking I am answering emails or something else

I prefer to write because it helps me retain the information and I'm also a loud typer.

I'm usually writing my notes.

In the rare case I'm just on the phone, no video, I might type notes so I don't have to retype them after the meeting.

But I can understand my jumbled written notes better than my jumbled typed notes.

I also really hate when I'm on a call and someone is typing notes on a different window. No matter if they reassure me they're listening, I don't 100% believe them.
