Every sales expert/leader I know talks about the importance of continually prospecting. They all say that no matter what you should always add new leads to your funnel every day.
Meanwhile, I am fortunate to receive enough inbound leads at my job that I stay busy all day long working the pipeline that's been given to me, so there are plenty of days I do zero prospecting.
It seems counterproductive to neglect my existing opportunities so I can take an hour to send cold emails and make cold calls. I also believe in work life balance. I'm not going to tack on a 10th or 11th hour to my workday because I didn't do my prospecting yet.
I understand that "always be prospecting" sounds nice in theory but is it realistic? Am I missing something?' I'm curious to hear your anonymous takes.
