Does your quota change when you're on PTO?

I've heard that some companies are starting to adjust quota to account for time off. My quotas don't change and I just have to plan around it. We have unlimited PTO but I feel like I can't take more than a few days without getting behind.

Quota Relief is the next "unlimited PTO" when it comes to corporate benefits and perks. A cool trend to attract talent, but a farse when it comes to accessing it or executing on it.

Never heard of this, but my guess is it’s like what happens on Black Friday… quota actually gets bumped up 10% in advance (either all year or that quarter) so that they can then “give you relief on PTO” and in reality it’s the same quota you used to have.

Curious how this goes for Maternity/Paternity leave?

Guessing if you're on leave such as mat/pat or disability quota relief will come into play at most sensible places...wouldn't be a great look to PIP someone who's been away for months because they had a child lol.

Well, it's illegal to do that in most countries but they can find a way to screw you over if they're really motivated to get rid of you.

I was thinking less about PIPs and more how much they actually pay you while you're out. One of the annoying things about our chosen profession is how PTO is typically only paid out your base salary, which is only about half our income (at least for me). I would hope for Parental leave it'd be different but im never shocked at how companies will take every chance to screw over salespeople.

That's the rub; leadership knows that if they offer "unlimited" PTO along with quota relief, people would actually start using it.

Yeah I have taken much less time off with "unlimited" PTO than with a structured PTO system

This is my big issue with "unlimited" PTO in general. Sometimes it's hard to even take a whole week with my workload.

Ive never heard of this. We are in sales so hit your number and take all the PTO you want. We joke that revenue hides all sins but its a real thing. I dont know how you can drive high standards while allowing quota relief for PTO. Plan ahead, produce at a high level and you wont have to worry about this.

IDK how you can offer quota relief for PTO without first increasing quotas.

I don’t think my company offers quota relief. Good to see the trend is starting though… my  current company offers “unlimited” but it’s actually one week per quarter, or at least that’s what their comfortable with before eyebrows start raising. Now if you’re killing it, you can stretch that a bit.

i don’t mind honestly, at my last gig it was 8 hours PTO per paycheck = 2 days of PTO per month = 6 per quarter, and I don’t plan on taking week long vacay’s every quarter.

No way companies actually change quota for reps taking vacations/missing time...

Hence why PTO means nothing in sales.

I work longer sales cycles and we too have unlimited PTO. But I still work every day that I am out. Just maybe not full time

I have unlimited PTO, but a finite amount of sick days. Sick days adjust quota, but PTO does not. Our employee policies make no damn sense.

My quota is annual so no it doesn't change. I have the rest of the year to make up for the time off

I WISH! I'd be taking a lot more PTO lol. Because there is no quota relief its always so hard to take PTO when in sales because there is never a good time to be OOO

Happened to me. No rotation of leads, no prospecting for two months because i was on paternity. I had no quota relief and was pip’d for not hitting quota on my second month back. Our sales cycle was 90 days for new logos.

I have no idea! That's why I was curious. It's been trending on LinkedIn and I'm like, "What is this?"
