Dress code for WFM

Had a meeting where the client turned on video and they were suit and tie. I was in a polo and the SE was in a wrinkled t-shirt. Meeting went well, but got me thinking about dressing for work.

I am a t shirt type of guy, throw on a polo before the customer meeting. How does everyone else do it? I have been watching too much Sopranos so I think a track suit looks good

If you are on a meeting and someone is dressed casual, does that bother you?

Maybe a company polo, keep one on the back of chair in case i get sucked into a meeting. No pants though, ever

I sell to lawyers so it's not at all uncommon for them to be in a suit and tie when we hop on a zoom. But, lawyers only dress that way when they have to so they don't expect anyone else to dress up when they don't have to.

Casual is probably a bar I might not meet on any given day. Granted im not often on client calls but im currently wearing a sweatshirt with a 6" rip in the collar. This is pretty typical. Our CEO often says "I dont care about the quality of your clothes, I care about the quality of your work" and I take that to heart.

We also work in an industry that is very casual and laid back so ive never run into a situation where mysely, or any of my reps are drastically underdressed for a meeting.

was that fancy dressing prospect, working from home or the office?

i do most of my calls in a quarter zip pull over. in my last company I would rock the backwards hat sometimes if i didnt want to use a comb and that was totally cool hahah

I go casual 99% of time.. That being said, I do try and look put together still.

Is WFM the same as WFM? What does the m stand for?!

If I plan to have my video on I'll throw on a polo or button up. But if I'm wearing a t-shirt because I didn't think it would be a video-on meeting it won't keep me from turning the camera on.

On my virtual days I’m about as casual as you can get- down to wearing baseball cap so I don’t have to fix my hair. But if I’m in front of customers in person I’m usually overdressed. I work on college campuses so I enjoy looking better than my competitors walking around campus in leggings with a backpack.

I’m a tshirt guy as well but I wear a v-neck for most wfh things. But I will also wear a polo to dress shirt for client mtgs. I keep one on a hanger in my home office.

I'm super casual right now, but have a branded jacket ready to throw on if a last minute meeting is thrown on my calendar.

If I have a scheduled meeting/demo/preso on the calendar, I'm dressing business casual - nice blouse.

Depends on the client and the relationship I have with them. I sell to a lot of manufacturing and industrial clients and have literally had prospects rip darts in their office on the call.

For internal calls I’m often very casual (hoodie and a ponytail), but for client calls I will put more effort. I always have a nice top on the side ready to wear at any time.

I guess I am crazy being the only one who likes to 'Winnie the pooh' it - business up top, party on the bottom.

This is a highly situational dependent question. Internal with peers or my direct manager, tshirt is fine. Internal with my vp or customer facing them I’ll be in a collared shirt (polo or button down)

I like rocking the short sleeve button down or my company logo t shirts up top with gym shorts down low, so they know I'm business but I still like to party

I wouldn’t say it bothers me but I’ve never failed to notice and make note. Tough to picky as a rep when it comes to what buyers are wearing. Wear a damn costume for all I care… sign the contract.

If I stay in pajamas I'll feel unfocused all day long.
So I always make sure to at least wear a polo or button down.
Shorts are everyday though :)

I think everything revolves around the time you want to set. The old adage is somewhat true when it comes to dressing for success. However there are plenty of guys slinging product and making money in jeans and a t shirt.

I think it’s alway best to be middle of the road. Never be the best dressed or least dressed.

Casual clothes, sometimes brushed hair, and a little mascara helps a lot. Also, good lighting.

I call it my zoom mullet when I'm WFH - I have nice shirts that I wear on client facing meeting and wear gym shorts or sweatpants and no shoes. Business up top, lazy down low
