End of quarter stress

Someone casually mentioned to me that salespeople should not be so stressed at the end of the quarter... I nearly spit my coffee out. I am sorry but if you're not stressed at the end of the quarter are you even a salesperson? If I am not stressing about hitting quota I am stressing about being in major accelerators and needing to sell to anyone who will buy for that extra $$$$. I feel like stress and disappointment are part of the job description. But in exchange the highs are high and you're rolling around in 100 dollar bills on your bed after a major commision hits your account.

Am I jaded after this many years in sales, this shit is stressful it's part of the job

Itโ€™s stressful unless youโ€™re killing and fine with the money youโ€™ve already made!
If youโ€™re in an impossible situation, yea it sucks

Feel like itโ€™s hard not to be stressed. Your either pushing to hit quota, hit an accelerator, even if your numbers are good your team might be missing which causes you to overcompensate

Iโ€™m over my quota and in line to cover the rest of the year with quarterly goals. Every day Iโ€™m stressed with what could happen. Keep closing and know itโ€™s a job that pays for performance.

If not for stress, Iโ€™d have no idea how to spend my day. Itโ€™s built in. Youโ€™re only a Jedi master seller when you know how to lean on it and use it as fuel. Sounds like youโ€™ve arrived.

It is always stressful yet it isnโ€™t. I mean, I donโ€™t take this stress home ever.

Stress is a phenomenal motivator, when handled properly. It's like when I used to play baseball as a kid - the best hits always came when the count was fully loaded.

Embrace it, let it fuel you.

It's a part of the life we chose.

There are VERY few jobs that have a constant target on their back for performance, people don't get it.

This is spot on and anyone outside of sales really does not get it. How many other roles are you a superstar one quarter living the life go home come back and the new quarter has started and youโ€™re back at zeroโ€ฆ.. I have come to the conclusion that itโ€™s not worth trying to explain this mentality to non sales people itโ€™s lost on them they donโ€™t get the struggle.

Annual quota here. Quarters donโ€™t mean much to me but I do get some scrutiny month to month.

EOQ is only stressful if you canโ€™t forecast and are holding onto hope for deals that donโ€™t have legs. Oh, and if whoever you report to is stressed about their performance and is putting it on you to solve for themโ€”mega stressful.
