Good Leadership v Bad leadership

we had an all hand off site this past week. leaders came in a day early to work through some topics.

This was one of the most eye opening experiences of my career.

leaders from: Product, engineering, marketing, CS, Services and me from sales.

there were a NUMBER of meetings where we were trying to make a decision and we went round and round saying "no i dont think thats it".

it was SUPER frustrating.

but no one freaked out, no one got upset. we all just kept talking and working through it.

And we GOT to the answers we needed to get to.

I was SUPER impressed, ive seen leaders in way less important situations get too annoyed and make a decision that was not in the best interest of the team.

it was very refreshing to see it work out this time.

major cudos to our CEO, she allowed the team to get frustrated, didn't step in, didnt over step, just helped facilitate.

very very exciting.

I can tell you for 100% certainty that your CEO didn't interfere because she didn't have the answers either - she was just smart enough to keep her mouth shut.
This is something other CEO's can definitely learn from, and most of us as well.

Yeah, some think they always need to answer and that silence on their part is bad. Not the case

10000% agree. If she needed to make a decision she could have. but she was deliberate in involving the group. for sure a sign of a good leader.

im interested to see how this effects things going forward! not that us sales ppl will really see it but how tech start ups decided to handle their money because of this.

Happy for you! However itโ€™s only half time. Now you need to relay to your teams and they need to be just as excited about it. ๐Ÿ˜€
