Got an offer

So after getting laid off, I received an offer. Good pay, God awful benefits. The healthcare benefits are the worst ive seen. Not the best company but it's my only option right now. I want to accept so I have a job and income, but still continue to look for the right fit. How would you go about this?

You graciously accept then move on when you get a better offer.

Take the job and get income security. If you find another job, leave. Any company will cut you without thought and fire you without remorse, you owe them nothing. Work is an exchange of time and money. If you quit they don’t need to pay — so there is nothing here that should be seen as “unfair” that gives you hesitation.

Now I’m not advocating for being unprofessional, and I’m well aware hiring is a costly exercise. That said — it’s on a company to hire and RETAIN, if your talent is better rewarded elsewhere, there is nothing morally wrong with you pursuing an employee that rewards your talent higher.

Don’t over complicate this. Take the job. You owe them hard work while your paid, but you’re not obligated to stay id something better exists.

I’m going to agree with everyone else, that you can accept it and keep looking. Based on your other post about interviewing, you are actively engaging with companies and getting interviews, so it may just be a matter of time.

Same - take what you get so you have something on you that can pay your basics. If you don’t like it switch in a few months.

I definitely think you're right. Not the best situation, but its the situation I'm in. Need to do what's best for me and not the company

Take the job. Time block outside of the work hours to continue job searching.

You got this!

Yeah I think that's what I have to do. I've never seen a healthcare plan with a 12k deductible for the family
