Hit quota since joining the company and now on a plan

I have been a company since the start of the year. I have hit quote in the first 2 quarters since joining the company. Then they decided to overhaul the responsibilities of my team and changed what we are doing on our day to day. My quote is quarterly and they put me on a plan mid-quarter even though I have never missed quote. Is this even legal? Just curious about everyones thoughts on this.

Legal? You bet your ass. Ethical? Not a bit.

This is usually a sign of rough seas ahead. I say abandon ship at the first sight of land.

Totally legal, but a really bad move for morale. I'd quietly start looking for another position and see if you can get away from this.

Damn, did you do anything? Have you got into an disagreement with your boss?

Did you run the deals that you closed

I ask a lot of questions because I have felt they change their answers depending on who it affects. Last week I questioned them about inbounds leads that were suppose to go to me but they said nah we are going to give them to somebody else. I closed the deals. I also know I am the highest paid on my team so Im guessing they just dont want to pay me and trying to push me out anyway they can.

Wait, you asked about leads that were supposed to go to you, they were going to give them to someone else - but you went ahead and closed them anyway?

I should have separated it... I answered both questions back to back... The took my inbounds away and gave them to somebody else. I was saying my deals closed were by me not somebody else.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

So sounds like there's already some shuffling going on around you., but nobody's telling you why or what it's about, and you're on a PIP. You said below it's because of not enough calls? Will you be able to generate enough outbound traffic and sail through this?

I mean, I'd still be looking for a new job on the downlow. You may ride this out, but PIP is never a good sign.

Not trying to say anything bad but are you the highest paid because you on a ramp quota compared to everyone else. Where are based on revenue sold rank why not %

I’m likely the highest paid from what I know because I was an outside hires versus others who were internal promotions. I was on ramp Q1 only and even if I didn’t have ramp number I would have been 115% of my number

this is crazy, but legal. Sales is a "what have you done for me lately" game. sorry and I wish you get out of it.

Might be dumb question, but have you asked why you’re on a plan when you’ve been making your number?

Yup, they told me because Im not making enough calls... the problem with that is that they told me as long as Im hitting my number it doesn't matter. I am also the highest paid on my team so I think they just dont want to pay me anymore and are trying to push me out anyway they can.

Are they auto tracking your calls or have to manually enter them in the CRM?

Seeing this at my company, we at the same place? 🤔 like the rest of the comments say it’s defenitely legal but shitty for morale.
How long is it? Maybe they void it after some success generating opps?

Layoffs without officially laying people off. They’re trying to get you to leave. With most companies it’s last in, first out. Tough luck, time to polish the resume.

Here we go again with this BS. Leadership needs to start chopping heads to reduce costs... labor is overhead. This is their "paper trail" that they'll use for justification. Like @SaaSamsaid. Get the resume ready.

Either document everything or start looking ASAP. TBH seems like a toxic work environment and look like they are trying to save their own ass rather than care about their employees

If you are asking yourself "am I in trouble" or "should I leave", then the answer is probably "yes".
