How can I get someone to take a chance on me?

Every role I see on LinkedIn and other Jobs boards ask for 2-3 years of sales experience. How do you find someone who is willing to take a chance on a hardworker?

Live Filthy or Die Clean
I've said it a few times now, but you have to attack your job hunt like they are a prospect. Be persistent in your outreach, and not just with one target in an organization find a champion and decision maker - ask good questions, listen for opportunities, clearly explain where you can bring value, and set expectations for next steps and end game. If you do that right, they don't need a resume, they are living in a demo of your savagery.

Happy Hunting.

I know from personal experience that calling the hiring manager and asking them if you can send them a resume directly, in addition to submitting online, and then scheduling a follow up call right then to discuss the call can help greatly.

You need to do more than just submit a resume to demonstrate you’re a hard worker. Call the HM or DM and be ready to tell them how you can contribute to their goals by hiring you.

If you play a sport or something in your personal life that shows you can set goals, work towards them and are dedicated. As a hiring manager, that stuff can go a long way

The more initiative you can show the better. Be open about the fact that you don't have the experience, but that you are willing to learn and to work hard in the role.

You're may need to consider SDR positions for many SaaS companies as they are a bit snooty about SaaS experience, but for any sales manager worth their salt, if you can demonstrate your future ability they may take a chance.

For less complex products/sales processes, you may have an easier way in.

To do what? Inside sales? AE? AM? SDR/BDR? Gotta be a little more specific on what you want to do.

-What do you do now?
-Any transferable skills?

I’m a year out of school currently in an AM/Inside sales role for a transportation company. Essentially bring on accounts and then managing every aspect of the account. Current role has no growth opportunities and short sighted management. I’ve been looking for new opportunities to get my foot into tech or medical sales but I keep finding myself getting passed on due to experience. Do I just need to keep my head down and grind this out a few more years?

That's one avenue. Or apply to SDR role in industry you want to be in and move up

You can do one of two things assuming you want to slang software.

-SDR path, find a solid company ask about path to promotion do 6-18months of being a sales donkey. You are a shoe in for one of these jobs and should be able to pull 60-70k base with 85-95k OTE.

-AE path and skip being a sales donkey, this will be harder to make happen, but not impossible. There are a bunch of SAAS logistics companies that might give you a shot. I would imagine you will have to do a bunch of interviews with different companies but if you are persistent you might find someone to let you skip the line, but you might have to make some concessions in regard to the quality of the sales org.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
You also gotta keep pushing, man. Keep in mind referral bonuses incentivize people to submit your resume..

Pick up the phone or go by their office and ask to speak to the sales manager and make something happen.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice. I just accepted a new role as a BDR with a SaaS company and got a significant pay raise and a lot of opportunity for attainable growth.
