How many times should I ask for a raise?

so I asked for a raise (5-6 months ago) but I didn't get a promising response, my boss said a raise will be possible but need to be discussed with higher up, but then nothing
when should I ask again? And how?

Sounds like you’re being strung along. If they wanted to give you a raise they would.

You can always follow up with your boss on it but I promise they didn’t forget and were most likely told to ignore it. This happens a lot unfortunately.

Are you crushing it? Exceeding goals? If so then you can go in with this evidence and ask again fully planning on applying elsewhere if you don’t get a good response.

Your career and life are too short to be strung along. If they wanted to give you a raise they would and the lack of follow up tells me the caliber of person you’re speaking with.

Pretty much this, if you feel your performance deserves a raise and they wont give one then go get paid what you're worth elsewhere.

Yeah I’m killing it, 12 meeting booked a month and 7-8 opps on average
Our meeting goal is 8 and 3 opps

If they keep moving the goal posts then move your ahh to another company.

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
You definitely need to follow up on the previous conversation. Your boss is hoping you just forgot.

Whenever you get shot down the first time, ask "what needs to happen for me to get to abc position/status/etc" and/or "how long do you think before I will have reached the level of xyz" and assuming the milestones are realistic, document your accomplishments. Get them to give you tangible markers, not a vague "oh well you need to take on more" (more what????)

Then when round 2 comes about you can say, "hey I did blah blah blah and would like to revisit the discussion of comp"

When you ask for something like this, have a plan in mind for what you want and what you’re asking for. Ask what the criteria for a raise are; if there are specific objectives or targets you need to hit. Plan on closing as well: ask your manager “if you have to ask executives, when would you get an answer? When can I meet with you about this?” 5-6 mos with no response is too long.

ask again to confirm what needs to be done
Have it be something that can be tracked

Seems like enough time passed. Ask again but get very clear answers on the hurdles you have to jump to see it.
