How much Outreach does it take?

Hey guys,

I'm a sales recruiter, specializing in the tech market. It's obviously very rough right now with the job market, prospects seem very quick to shut conversations down in comparison to a year ago.

However, I'm determined to succeed. For you seasoned sales pros out there - how much outreach per contact do you do each day? I usually do a call and follow up email per prospect per day. Should I be doing more? Thanks.

You’re in the lions den right now. Lots of folks looking for work.

Are you on the supply or demand side?

I know, I'm reached out to by multiple AE's per day looking for work.

If I understand your question correctly, I supply our clients with candidates. With that said, not a lot of companies are hiring so I'm trying to improve my sales strategy to gain more jobs.

Are you having trouble finding roles, or are companies refusing to work with 3rd parties?

If the former, you can’t take blood from a stone. The market has very little demand, making your supply irrelevant to them. Quality be damned.

I’d it’s the latter, it’s likely due to the fact their budgets are so tight already and a placement fee is out of the question.

Does either of those sound like what you’re facing?

I'm finding roles, albeit, there are significantly less atm. I'm definitely finding it's a bit of both but more so the latter.

Are you able to reduce your fee as a competitive advantage?

Lowering fees is a race to the bottom imo. Deferred or outcome-based payment can provide more leverage longer term without cannibalizing revenue.

Sounds like you should be doing more…

I know I probably sound like an idiot asking this question but I'm really trying to improve my skills and strategy. With that said, any pointers are appreciated. Thanks.

I truly don’t understand the recruiting space.

Prospects for you are companies hiring yes?

Are these prospects exclusively hiring through you or you’re just bringing any client to any company and asking for a finders fee?

Happy to tell you about my experience with recruiters, maybe that will give you something to work with?

Exactly, companies that are hiring. My company specializes in Saas and cybersecurity.

Some are using us exclusively (have no TA team), or we're supporting their TA team by exclusively working on select roles.

Yes, I'd love to hear about your experience with recruiters. I'm sure you have some horror stories lol.

How many contacts do you target per day. Call and email and sometimes LinkedIn messages.

Like PBC stated lots of people looking for work here

Sounds like you’re having trouble getting orgs interested. Sales folk will talk you into a tailspin right now. I have never done your job. But if I had to right now, I’d go hunting for lean co. growth stories. Seems your mission is finding the right prospects. Quality over quantity.

Thats definitely my problem. I'm finding that even if I'm working with a candidate from a direct competitor, It's hard to get any interest. You're probably right, larger companies usually have a well developed TA team. That is, if they haven't laid them off yet.

So two touch points in a day and then what?

2 touch points per contact per day, usually a call and an email. In total I'm doing 50-100 touchpoints in total per day depending on if I'm sourcing candidates for a job.

how long before you go back to the same contact again? I'm assuming you're not reaching out to the same contact twice a day every day.

honestly I'd change that part up. Try a different touch point with the same contact every couple of days. Email, couple days later call, couple days later LI

My style here is 2-3 calls per prospect a day and 1 email each.

This is a very hard question to answer because the answer id dependent on circumstances. Right now you likely need to be doing a massive amount of outreach and curated outreach at that, it's also likely that the DMs that you are reaching out to right now are worried about their own job security, so leading with having a pool of qualified candidates that have shown they can come in and close deals quickly in even the toughest times will likely open some doors for you.

Ah, sorry, I see now I should have clarified - I'm referring to client Acquisition rather than reaching out to candidates about opportunities.
