They struggle. They have to sell stronger than ever. Their product has to be better (that's what Catalyst + Totango will deliver). They have to find the people who will change, which is hard. I'm still scratching my head how Catalyst didn't do $100M in ARR last year after being on discovery call after discovery call where I was like, "This is a SLAM DUNK." Only problem...the person with the ball (exec) has no clue how to pass it to the wide open person under the rim."

I'm not a CRO but isn't the CRO's job to figure out how to sell to these Exec's?

Some people got lucky in the ZIRP era and assumed that it was all their own hard work.

I actually found it to be a fascinating read. Personally, I would never make such a post and burn old bridges, but at the same time its a great reminder that PMF beats a very well made product that nobody wants.

I interviewed with this guy at Outreach (didn't get hired but they flew me out to Seattle for a gauntlet of 10 interviews in one day, as a final step). He was a looney toon. I wouldn't have taken the job it were offered to me.

This merger with Totango was essentially their only viable move left to continue taking up market share. Both companies raised UNGODLY amounts of capital during ZIRP, like between the two I believe over $200M, IPO was out of the question because public markets arenโ€™t ready for these kinds of companies (let along whether or not they would even survive an IPO)

So it was either Merge, or pummel each other to death stealing each othersโ€™ clients for the foreseeable future.

The level to which theyโ€™ve concealed what the new merged company will be worth concerns me too.

Lotta FUD floating around in the CS space these days, you see a lot of it coming from folks like former CEO of snowflake, Jason Lemkin I dunno if these companies will survive after raising so much fuckin money

it just screams "I want attention, look at me now." And the fact that he is using customers not buying as the excuse for leaving is laughable. Perhaps your pitch, demo, pricing, return on investment, or YOUR CS should get better, but god forbid its your own fault. It blows my mind that you would shit on a former (and future) potential customer on the way out the door too. Is someone going to see this and hire him because of it?
