How to tell my boss I know I am paid the least, without exposing the team?

So I am on a small team of AEs. We have both been working together for almost 2 years now and I had a feeling that I was getting paid way less than her.

I have crushed it this year leaving her in the dust.

I then find out I am making $25k LESS than she is making!

I for SURE believe this needs to be equal but how do I bring this up to my boss, without making it clear who told me this info.

Because I know for sure that will cause problems for her. Which I obviously don't want to do.

I cant be the only one dealing with this right???

You are talking about your livelihood here. It's also illegal in most places for employers to fire employees for sharing how much they make. Immediately ask for a raise, especially considering your performance, and if you dont get it leave. Makes no sense someone in the same role would be getting $25k more gauranteed imo.

This! I once brought up pay to a leadership team member who was furious. But she couldn't fire or discipline me in any way or they'd get the pants sued off them.

I'd bring it up in a negotiation. Meaning be ready to talk about what happens if they don't want to change your pay. Do you have another job offer (not hard to come by lately)? Would you be prepared to walk? Or are you just bringing it up in hopes they'll make it easy on you and do the right thing?

ha! Thats crazy that they got so mad! Probably becuase it makes them realize they made a mistake by paying you so low in the first place.

yeah I do not have another offer but I would be ready to walk and figure it out.

Yeah, just bring up the conversation with your boss. A small difference wouldn't matter, but 25K is a big deal. That is an entire car.... or a down payment on a house.

And with a 25K bump in base comes an increase in Restricted stock units and stock options. its a game changer.

Thats way to much disparity especially considering you havent just been there 3 weeks.  I would be up front about it.

When I ask for my salary review, I will never talk about how much more/less someone else is making as that's none of my business and they have negotiated for it.

I understand that. If we had a team of 10 - 15 reps with varying degrees of success, than I wouldnt bring up one person.

In this situation, its just 2 of us, we do the SAME job and I do it better, and make way less.

IMO not only is it not fair, its un ethical. They clearly know this is happening and just hope I dont find out or say anything.

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...
