How would you approach prospecting into direct competitors known customers?

Self-explanatory title.

Our org has identified a list of competitor customers, and wants our BDR/SDR organization to work them.

I want to empower my BD to do this in a tactful but successful manner, and I've never really targeted this way before personally.

Have you identified any weak points in that competitor's product or level of service that you address better they can touch on?

And once you do, there are a thousand ways to go at it. I see youโ€™re using X At one time X was the industry standard. It might be time to check your stack, Jack. There are options that do y and z for half the flapjacks while making your office chair vibrate. I assume if you were aware youโ€™d have deployed ine like this by now, right? All the cool kids are using the new stuff.

Any reason you wouldnโ€™t take a look at a better mousetrap?

Orโ€ฆ whatever words you use. Compliment their vendor. Tell them why yours is better. Gently challenge them. CTA.

Exactly. Never trash, but you can make them think and position yourself as better.

I know them but I doubt our BD department is that well versed, sounds like an educational session so they go in with a soft touch.
Appreciate you!

Not surprising, but it shouldn't be too difficult to build out a page or two on it.

Maybe provide some frameworks/talk tracks that identify vertical-specific ones they can use, if applicable.

@jefe has a good one. Use that. On top of that, I like to be specific to the person and to the product then show my value prop.
Example,
morning Hannah,
Beans here with a sprout for you. Youโ€™re already using (xyz) SaaS tool, I can do all that with (your product) and save you money. I can show you in 5 minutes, whatโ€™s your preferred method of communication?

depends on the competitors typical contracting but it's a great way to get long term prospects going

Two points; Iโ€™ve seen these lists before - they are WHACK. If you email someone โ€œhey, I know you use XYZโ€ and they donโ€™t you lose all credibility

What I have DOES work, is going to your competitorโ€™s use case section of their website - they often outlay which issues they had and how they work with them and even have quotes with names and job titles

From there, putting together a good cold call/ email should be easy peasy, lemon squeezy
