Hybrid ae/sdr role

hi all, I have been a bdr for 2 years. I have an opportunity to go to a hybrid sdr/closing role where I'd prospect into large account and work the smaller deal sizes <20k. my goal is to be an ae. should I take the opportunity for deal experience?

Are you paid the same commission rate as a full AE on closed business?

Some important questions asked already. But if the answers are favorable, meaning fair comp and attainable quota, hell yes, you should do this.

Yeah - sounds like a decent plan to slide into the role.

There’s always that - but I’d hazard that with some closing experience, it will be easier to find an AE role elsewhere, should that be the appropriate next move.

My thoughts exactly. I've seen way too many people stuck in SDR hell lately - if this is a dead end it will at least help with a good exit

Will you get commission on the deals? How will your comp work? Normally I’d say yes, but would want you to be sure you’re being taken care of.

Half of ote is based on Pipegen and half is closed won deals.

It doesn’t sound awful, and it seems like a soft transition. I’d do it.
