Is Digitization going to save us from Bureaucracy?

***My first post***

I don't know how the ARs work in their countries, but here, the AR and SDR are the same person, plus the CRM is mainly like an spredsheet than a tool to facilate your work, is a nightmare, a bureaucracy nightmare.

I've been doing my research, and automate tasks is a common thing, but, do you need a Salesforce consultor to do that?,

I would like to hear your experiences.

Not all crmโ€™s are bad. Iโ€™ve always thought of the crm as a repository but your automation tool should be separate. Allows you to have input on things instead of set the train on the tracks and let it run.

Hi Once,

CRMs are a nightmare, yes, but it's the standard system to keep track of everything we do with customers. They can be a pain in the neck, but when properly implemented well...still a pain, but at least useful to a certain point.

Automation is far from being a standard. Digitization is a very wide term, so unless you mean something specific, I don't think it will kill bureaucracy.

Can you be more specific with your question? I'm curious to where you want to go with this!

Hi alecabral,

You are right, maybe I confused the terms, automation and digitization.
My point of discussion is about whether to digitize the processes, such as
<< the quotation, the purchase order, the supplier order, the product follow-up, the supply management, the complaints and claims, and others,>>

and that together with the help of automation is going to save us from so much current bureaucracy in companies.

For example, today in many companies ISO 9001 is implemented, and this makes the procedures very rigid, in many cases it deteriorates customer service, response times are lengthened, it is not reactive to changes, and it is necessary to wait a certain time for the processes to adapt (since it must have a clear traceability) and finally, many things, which for me are boring, and may work, but in my opinion, they are not contributing anything to that the company grows. With digitization, a world of data is accessed to make sound decisions.

Well, I think what you described already happens through e-commerce for B2C businesses and some self-service B2B but for highly consultitave environments where consultants/experts/specialists (a.k.a. sales people like some of us) are still needed, I don't think any degree of automation right now can remove some of the parts of the process that might seem too slow. Also keep in mind that for every process on the vendor's side, there's one on the customer's side meaning sometimes things take long either because of the vendor, or because of the customer.

That being said, I wouldn't blame it all on ISO 9001 though I am unfamiliar with its impact. What I can tell you for sure is automation has been helping sales professionals for the past decade at least and it's getting really good. It's still not enough to replace some of the tasks we need to do (i.e. like creating different scenarios through the right quoting tool), but I'm sure we're headed that direction.
