Is it me or is fractional outbound cold calling (pay per meeting) the new Meta on linkedin these days?

Not sure if it's just my feed, but i'm seeing a ton of the big influencers run their revenue models as outbound cold calling pay per meeting these days.

They'll grab a customer, get a list, get it phone validated (someone in the phillipines calls the entire list 5 times, and notes who picks up, who voicemails, who doesn't etc), take a cleaned list of people who pick up, chuck that list into an autodialler and rip dials.

Then charge for meetings, or "completions" (complete call, not interested, meeting booked, check in next qtr etc).

I guess the gig is to be a more optimised SDR, and get companies to fire their SDR team

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
That sounds like an awful process which is only going to guarantee people stop answering their phones.

How is this different than outsourcing your calls to any call center?
I've worked for companies that have tried this model, and it inevitably fails. When you don't know the ICP or solution, you're going to inevitably end up with poorly sourced, badly qualified leads.
It doesn't matter who is getting paid to get the meeting or what tools they're employing to get a list to call. Garbage in, garbage out.

Basically the same thing.

I don't think I've heard of this working for anyone.

I just think it's the same old model, brushed off and presented as new.

That's what people love to do with failed models.

emails can be automated and many sdrs would rather die than make a cold call so if it makes sense for the revenue model im sure people will pay for it, in essence hiring an sdr is just paying for completions with extra steps

It will be interesting to see how the SDR will change over the next couple years, I still think the best part of a sdr team is a pipeline of internal hires for AE roles who know the product

Seems like a weird way to go to market.

Fractional is exploding for good reps - but risky if your current employer catches on.

Leveraging networks for a warm intro is the only thing I see working right now. Have to use c-suite, board, VCs, etc to break in. Seeing influencers charge per meeting they setup based on who they know.
