Is it my fault if they ‘no-show’? If I’m still making the effort and they ‘no-show’ - will it still reflect badly in terms of my quota?

Joined a startup (*as their first BDR hire*) in the UK /established operation in Nordics specialising in ERP 3 months ago. So far I have booked 3 meetings (my quota will be eventually 6 so I'm presuming its ramp even though it hasn't been clear yet) however I've been finding it difficult to get them to show-up. I'm trying new ways to potential prospects to show-up (confirming meeting on that phone call, reducing time between call to meeting etc.) but I can't help feel bit disheartened especially as a new BDR who is judged on his sales performance.

Can anyone help? or give me some guidance?

This isn’t really a time for freak out. No shows are a thing. If you’ve got a CRM that sends reminders, use it. Then text on top of that. Ask for a budget to send a cup of coffee in advance. Just be diligent. The law of averages will take care of things.

Call to confirm appointment the day before.
Send email to confirm the appointment the morning of. Send a text to confirm a few hrs before if not heard on above items.
Typically yes if you have a high no show rate it says the meetings you are setting are bunk.
We believe in you, just be yourself and confirm the meetings. Watch what other reps are doing if they are having a better show rate.

I forgot to mention that I’m first and only BDR does that change things?

Well then congratulations- you’re top notch, number one, top producer, and doing the best!!!
All kidding aside.. no shows happen. Don’t stress over it. Just try to do your best. Maybe try to qualify a bit better, typically the more interesting your offering is, the more likely they will show.
Keep up the strong work slugger.

If he's the first and only BDR, there's a decent chance this company is so small that they haven't figured out half their shit. You're gonna be fine-tuning your message a lot.

Cool little trick I picked up from LinkedIn (yes, it actually has good content sometimes) is to add “*** CONFIRMING ***” to the title of the calendar event a couple days before if they don’t accept the invite. My hold/successful reschedule rate has noticeably gone up.

I don’t work for your employer, so I cannot answer the question about how much no-shows affect your performance.

Couple of questions: are there other BDRs who are successfully getting prospects to show up? If so, what are they doing?

They have an established Nordic presence? Are our Northern brethren more polite and don’t no show?

So who’s your manager? As a new BDR, honestly you need a lot of support and you should be getting a good deal of help with this.

Is this your first BDR role?

Great comments here already, I would just add to not forget to circle back to the no shows even if they've ghosted. Wait 2 weeks after last ghosted communication and reinstall them into a new cadence that has messaging like, "not sure what happened but was looking forward to ...blah blah etc" basically nicely call them out and give them a chance to say something came up or why they aren't as interested as they were on the initial call.

Great idea. There are many reasons a prospect may flake. Some might come back.

The person changed their mind because they felt we didn’t have a significant presence in the market were operating. Tried to follow-up at least 1.5 weeks before the appointment only to be told that the day before the scheduled meeting. It is what it is..

Are you booking the meeting to sell them yourself or are you getting a higher up on the call to lead the convo?
If you are the guy selling, then I agree you gotta give them the reason past the first call otherwise your wasting their time and likely need to get good at nailing the first call with them.
If you are setting it up for another, its important not to give away too much on call one, you can loop back to emphasizing the value of the next meeting with the higherup.
I do my best not to schedule a meeting longer than 3-5 days out if I can help it. I get that it doesn't always work. If it needs to be longer then I like the idea someone mentioned earlier about having not only automated messages but also a coffee or something could helpl

The one you were told the day before your meeting that they werent interested or were hesitant, I wouldn't call that a no show or ghosting, they at least gave you something rather than just not saying.

Law of averages + Evaluate experience
Give your self more chances to win by taking more shots and after each miss, find a way to evaluate what went well and what didnt and work on the craft.

Sales is not about how perfect or good you are, its about how you handle the challenges. You are not your job or challenges you face in the work you do, so keep the head up.

Setup reminder prior to the meeting. Make them automated so you don’t forget.

If you booked them via a call, always try for sooner that should help your show rates.

I get no shows all the time, it happens just make sure to follow up with them

Numbers, numbers, numbers. Currently- my team is at 97% top line and 112% profit. Was told need to develop a plan to get over 100%. Have to forecast for rest of year as well. Just venting. Your only as good as your last month.

If my employer has had lack of inventory for several months due to horrible planning and I haven’t been able to hit sales quota due to lack of inventory. I have about 2 months worth of goals in open POs. Should the company pay me commission?
