It’s Friday; Would you rather?

You can choose to answer both or answer one but let's keep asking!

Q1. Would you rather work for a startup with high growth potential but uncertain stability or a well-established company with limited growth opportunities?

Q2. Would you rather sell a product you truly believe in but with a limited market or a widely marketable product you're not passionate about?

Q1) Established. Give me 5 years of runway so I can stop worrying about another layoff.

Q2) If I don’t care, I won’t care. Gotta be a product or market or ICP I have interest in.

1) Now that I've got a house and family? Established all the way.

2) All about that ICP & PMF. As long as it's not killing people/destroying ecosystems etc. then I can be passionate about helping people solve whatever problem is being solved. My idealistic days are LONG gone.

Q1) established company all the way. - if you hit the ceiling there, its easier to find a new gig workign at an established company.

Q2) selling a product im passionate about / the mission the company is on is exciting to me is a must. If i dont care about the product or the mission ill be so bored.

Honestly I haven't been passionate about anything I've sold over my career. I care about my cash.

After getting a taste of a small startup:

1. Established
2. Passion

Number 2 is a must for anywhere I go. I can’t spend many of my waking hours on something I don’t care about.

Q1 - Curious...how does everyone in here distinguish well established versus start-up?
My answer - established but still is aggressive yet patient in how they approach growth. Having a kid and family changes everything.
Q2 - Widely marketable product...I've learned my "passions" are in other areas that aren't motivated by money being deposited in my account.

Startups have burned me 3 times in a row. So, established proven processes where I can focus on one role rather than doing the jobs of 3-4 people.

1 was stealth. Other was first round and other was VC bought after 5 years but operated like they were only a year old.

1. Well established. Even without growth oppy there’s room to grow from things learned over time.
2. Depends on quota/structure. One I believe in would probably be the right answer

Would you rather sell a product you truly believe in but with a limited market, there are hidden gems in a limited market. No Stone unturned that's what I say.

Q1. I'll take startup with the right base and potential b/c I don't like limited growth b/c I play on the once or twice a year whale deals so they need to be as big as possible to make up for my valleys. This is in a hypothetical, if I had to choose in real life I may change my tune lol.

Q2. Tough - love to have passion about a product HATE the limit. Going with Widely marketed product. I sold copiers and I had no passion for that and I'll take more people to sell to - I can make anything entertaining lol.

Good questions I like this TY @Gasty

Q1 only if it were my own business or my boyfriend's business... Might get involved with very good friends. Otherwise well established one.
Q2 Sell something I believe in always

Established company - you get that name on your resume as it helps open doors after however many years of crushing it

Widely marketable - I do that every day. Just have to find where it works and beat other out on either delivery or ease of use.

Q1) I like both, now I'm working in a well-established company and love it. However, the speed of execution is a lot slower. This is mainly due to the self-funded nature. So it's a double-edged sword here

Q2) I would rather sell a product I believe in with a limited market.
Unless you're selling to SMBs, potential customers WILL notice you're not passionate
