my advice would be to try and not job hunt while on pat/mat leave.....try to stay as focused on the new baby. spend your employers time looking for a new job when you get back ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hard agree on this. You'll never get this time back.

Agreed! If itโ€™s not super important, then focus on the new born baby. Jobs come and go but THIS time wonโ€™t come back. Also, congratulations :)

absolutely agree with Tennis on this. While it may be difficult, cut off the work mode and focus on the baby and wifey

My current firm doesn't place value on the sale org and there are no defined career paths. Additionally, as a BDR to AE promote (about 4 years back) my OTE is less than external hires.

Read your comment to @braintank have you considered bringing up that you are being paid less despite your commitment to the organization?

As someone who has tried this multiple times, be prepare for a non-answer and no path forward. Should you get that, they will either expect you to leave or expect you to tuck your tail. Let them know what your intent is and see if they attempt to retain you.

I have a very young baby at home and am only sales rep at my company. I went back to work just days after kid was born. (Thankfully remote). Wish I could have had more time. Point being- take the time you get off from the job. Do a job search on their time once back on the work clock again. Enjoy the time with your baby.
