From someone who was just laid off Friday and is a single income family with 2 kids my best advice to you is that there are many companies where budgets renewed and they want to take advantage of the layoffs. They get it and don’t look at it negatively. I understand the stress and fatigue it is likely causing however you will overcome it and be better on the other side.

Either tell them you left because the company vision didnt align with your's
Or just tell them why you got laid off
I would go with #2

Tell your network you’ve been laid off. Many may be in a position to help out with referrals or job openings they know of.
For future employers- why you’re looking for a new role should first be why you want to work for them and the value you bring. The fact that you got laid off and are therefore immediately available should be a benefit, because now you’re a free agent and they get a talented employee as soon as they decide you’re a fit - no need to wait for a notice, etc.
I’m sure it’s stressful, but try to keep it as positive as you can. If the layoff was due to elimination of your division, product, team, whatever - then you were caught in a market adjustment, but that is giving you the opportunity to find a great new company to work for.
Sorry this is happening.

Just be honest. Most companies understand what is happening right now is a function of the macroeconomic circumstances we are facing.

I’ve been in this boat for over 2 months now, and on each call I’ve been upfront about being part of a layoff, but spinning it into value I bring/what I’m looking for out of an organization.

I wouldn't try to sugar coat to be honest. 150k were laid off in '22 and they are projecting another 175k in January alone for '23... Its not a black eye, and if anything hiring managers have a soft sport for those affected and want to help out (if the fit is there). Layoffs affect even the top performers. My .002 is to just say what happened (my company grew too fast and took a chisel to the sales org to compensate, then explain your strengths as a rep and why you are right for the role.)

With many companies laying off for reasons unknown, I feel everyone is being understanding on this frnt (I could be living under a rock). But I feel it no more is performance based that people are getting laid off. So I wouldn't worry as much, and just go out and tell the the truth and keep applying wherever budgets have been renewed and are on expansion spree.

It sucks but there is a reason why so many people post about being laid off. Because using your network is the quickest to land the next role.
Its for sure humbling to let everyone know you were laid off, but its better to get a role quicker than be to prideful to ask for help

I've been laid off twice. I've always been open and transparent about that fact and it hasn't hurt me in interviews.
