Matchmaking lobbies for cold calling

What if you could cold call WITH other reps online?

Think gaming (CoD, Halo, etc) matchmaking lobbies, where you could filter for certain things like industry, tenure, and region to find other sales reps to make cold calls with.

Thinking about building this into a platform I'm working on (https://callblitz.com/)...terrible idea?

www.callblitz.com CallBlitz - Bring your sales floor back CallBlitz allows your remote sales team to coach, collaborate, and compete, just like you did in person.

Name checks out, I love it haha. Great q - check out SADNESSLieutenant's post below, there are a ton of reps out there that might benefit from cold calling with other people. Sharing best practices, not doing it alone, etc.

Love this idea, especially with callskins, I want that gold skin for my phone when I hit 10,000 dials, or 10 meetings booked in one day - not sure how the tracking or integration would work or privacy details for reps joining calls, would other reps be able to listen in? I think it's a great idea bc on my team I'm the only one who is really hounding the phones and it's fucking lonely and demoralizing

Dude. Sad to read that, but sounds like you will have the last laugh when you are successful and the rest of the team is left wondering why your numbers are so much better.

Love the creativity, we'll get you your blinged phone soon enough.

Yep! That is how the www.callblitz.com app functions today - it's built for internal/private team usage, but we're thinking about opening up a free public version of it for individual reps to use so they don't have to call alone and can share tricks/strategies/etc

Oh yeah I don't really know how useful it is internally because we all just hop on a zoom internally and call together and mute up or what's the difference I would see much more value in like a chatroom of top performers with rankings globally, nationally, or by region and industry

Chatroom is a good idea!

Difference is, in your Zoom, y'all are having to sit on mute, then unmute if someone gets a connect, and hope that unmute isn't going to spill over into someone else's call, etc, plus, you have to mess with Zoom and audio settings the whole time... too many buttons to press and too many things to worry about

when we are all on a zoom we either take turns calling or mute up and dont unmute when we get a call, instead we will share a recording or just know that while we are dialing we can see the other savages making dials as well w their cameras on so it's good for morale - whats it like or how is it different in callblitz?

Legit the same thing, you and your savages dialing together, but the audio is linked to your dialer so it automatically knows when you are connected or not, and you can "join" your teammates' call to listen in live

There's a little video on the top of the www.callblitz.com page that runs through how it operates

Maybe I'm old, but I'm thinking along the same lines as Foxy...

Is it gamification, sharing resources/best practices, all of the above?

Don't think I could ever see myself doing that but what the hell do I know...

Appreciate the feedback! It's doing live call blitzes with other reps.

Gamification, competitions, best practice sharing/etc are all elements of that, but the core use is that you and whoever else can go make live cold calls together (sharing audio in Zoom) while being remote.

Checkout www.callblitz.com if you're still unsure what it would "look" like

I'll take a look when I have a little more bandwidth.

Is there impact on efficiency? Like is it a lot of time spent waiting to make a call/listening to others do so? I wonder if it could harm KPIs...

Objection makes sense...good reps might be slowed down by others, bad reps might socialize/distract each other...

IM(biased)O it improves quantity and quality of calls.

Quantity:

It allows each rep to dial at the same time (no audio disruption or waiting to make calls) so your good reps can zone-in and just dial away. It will encourage your newer reps to dial as well because they don't have to do it alone.

Cold call reluctancy is real, but when teams call together (like we did in-person) they call way more.

Quality: Your reps can get live coaching from you/managers/eachother, and new reps can listen to the best reps and then go makes calls to replicate behaviors, so overtime, call quality improves through live coaching and feedback loops.

Totally...was an SDR in '20 before covid making cold calls w the team, then we got sent home for covid and cold calling was tough home alone...and Zoom only helps so much, too many buttons to press/etc when sharing audio

That's one of the few activities where a sales pit/floor is actually helpful.

Demos are a nightmare, but you can feed off each other's energy for power dialing.

I like it for the focus on getting some of the team aspect back to outbound roles. There is a lot to be said for seeing how other people approach cold calling.

I'm always encouraging people to try and partner up whenever possible so they can pick best practices from one another while also maintaining their own "style" which is important.

Totally agree...is your team remote? My team is, can be difficult to 1) share best practices among the team and 2) make coaching "stick" if it's not done live and on the spot

Yep we are mostly remote, there is a small group that lives in the same area and there is an office from pre-covid days that some use but it's not consistent enough to really foster collaboration. We also aren't trying to move away from the remote work, full flexible approach so something like this might scratch the itch.

Are you looking to create this and turn it into a product or service?

Nice - flexible is the way to go...win-win for the reps and the business IMO. We are fully remote, we make it work! But the hybrid model seems like it could be better in some cases.

We've already created the team-based platform, www.callblitz.com << to see what that is like.

We're considering adding an "individual" aspect to this where individual reps can go find other individual reps to dial with for free, ultimately getting the platform into more user's hands, and hopefully connecting with their managers to see if other people from the team would be interested in trying, with the end goal of getting the whole team on the platform internally.

Idk what Bravado's rules are in terms of "selling", so I'll err on the side of caution, but if you're curious lmk!

Like My BDR's v/s Gong's BDR's on the tool.

Possible?

In theory, that's absolutely the behavior we would want to see. "Hey let's go cold call with some of Gong's crew" OR "Hey let's challenge team Gong to a call blitz" or something

This is a great idea. I’m going to add to it. What if you used a gaming lobby to host demos or initial consultations? Gaming could essentially be the new golf course

Interesting concept, but my immediate thought is that you may run into some privacy issues there.

If a bunch of strangers are in a room calling together, wouldn't there be inherent risks like accidentally airing a product or service's dirty laundry? Explaining standard objections to the competition? Straight up telling your competitors parts about how your product works they might not know? That sort of thing?

And, even worse: what's to stop your best reps from jumping in a room with strangers, who then immediately headhunt them once they realise they're decent?

Not trying to throw shade, just curious how you'd deal with that sort of stuff

Love the feedback - it's helpful to think through!

Most cold calls I see on my team and in the industry don't go to a level of detail where you are explaining features or talking pricing, in fact if I had a rep doing that I would tell them they need to sell the *meeting* not the product. But, you're right, it does happen.

I suppose you could have an easy button you could press to silo the conversation in case you felt it was getting confidential....could also have these NDAs baked into the when you sign up to use the platform, something like "you agree not to share any confidential info you overhear and not to record anything" etc.

In terms of poaching, haven't thought about it, but hey, pay your reps well I guess.....nah, I think if reps are really THAT good, then hopefully they are smart enough to know jumping from SDR role to SDR role is not a good look, and it's better to ride one role out to an AE position than to hop and be an SDR for 5 years.....

Nah lol this wouldn't be for "after work" this would be part of your work-week at some point, doing some live power hours or call blitzes with some other reps you like to hang with across the sales world
