Most important thing to do in your sales process -- Keeping Champion In The Loop

When it comes to the people that can use clout to get you in to the org. Whether it's someone that has given you access to power and is a part of the decision making process, or it's someone that recommended you in to the org.

Keep them in the loop and let them know what's going on.

Crazy how many people can kill something for you just because you didn't talk to them.

I know people have experienced this before, and I just ran in to a situation where I made a phone call to discuss something that occurred. At the end of the day.... sure, no big thing. But the person on the other end appreciated it. Definitely helps your relationship status with others.

Itโ€™s definitely a good reminder to stay in touch and to reach out if thereโ€™s anything that occurs - even if it turns out to be nothing.

Yes, and ask for their cell number with specificity as to why, I want to be able to send you updates if this is something you want and would love an easy way to communicate with you, also tests if this is something they want or not.

Yes, been doing this with a larger group recently where we have having tons of small one-off meetings and it has had great results. My champion loves to hear how the meeting went, and is always helpful to add quotes too.

This is true. However, I'd caution that becoming too focused on your original champion kills deals more than almost anything. I've seen far too many reps terrified to talk to anyone else in the company because they don't want to upset their original contact/champion. They want to run everything through that person and end up blocking themselves from the decision makers.

AEโ€™s - Try your best to identify all the โ€˜key decision makersโ€™ early in the process. You might feel that itโ€™s necessary to wait or to be delicate in how you ask for other peopleโ€™s involvement โ€“ but donโ€™t
