New Industry Question

Just got hired into an industry I haven't worked in, my boss is asking for a list of people in my contacts who I'd want to sell to...going through my list I don't have many...any advice?

All you can do is be honest, your network doesn't match the new ICP.

Lead with you'll prospect to fill out any gaps that arise from having an expected network to sell to already (which is kind of an odd expectation).

If this was an expectation of how to start your book, how did you get hired into that job if you didn't have a list of previous clients? Seems like a them problem.

They never portrayed this to be an expectation, which is why I am confused

Sounds like a disconnect between their hiring process and their expectations.

Be honest. Tell him you're prospecting and ask if he has any guidance. See if you can get some coaching.

First and foremost, you tell your boss you don't sell to friends until you're seasoned enough to know what the fuck you're talking about.

Second, just because you don't have a long list of contacts doesn't mean you can't get them. Tell boss that you're prioritizing prospecting for this very reason, and go hit the phones/pavement.

Lol no I’m not in the life insurance world. Almost took a job there, spoke to a friend who do it, and told me to stay away far away

100% be honest here. Don't try to sell to people who don't fit your ICP, it's a waste of time for everybody

Just be real. If he hired you, I am sure he has looked at your past companies knowing they aren't in the same vertical. So no reason to stress. Any worries?
