New job prospect

I just started working my first sales job out of college- I do traveling sales and the job is not what I thought it would be. while I get good benefits and enjoy the company culture I am not finding satisfaction w the work on a day to day basis. how long should I wait before transitioning out of the company? I want to get into tech sales.

Well Good news is that your soul is still intact because this is your first sales position and you still have know how to understand if you are satisfied or not with the sales industry.

A few questions to ask:
1) Which part of the day to day process are you not satisfied with?  If it is the interaction with people/prospects that you are not satisfied with, do you think that tech sales will be better?

2) Is it a product that you feel good about or an industry that you find interesting currently or just took a sales job to see what it was like?

Sales can be a grind no matter what industry you are in and remember that not every sales position is right for every sales person.

Good luck.

So you mean selling vacuums sucks more than a strung out toothless hooker? Huh.

Go with your gut. If you don't see yourself being happy there for an extended amount of time, get out and go find yourself a gig where you'll be satisfied and in turn, more productive. You're young...now is your chance to play around with things and figure out where you belong.
