newer gig in security - cert q!

to any fellow sales savages in the WR that work in the security space (or if you don't - not like I can stop yah hah).

my relatively new spot I've landed is going well and I'm onboard as first ent AE.. while we're not heavy technical in the cybersecurity world - I'm selling to a lot of CISO's, security leads, GRC teams etc. again - we're not a level of technicality where knowing the ins and outs is a must... but i like to learn. surprisingly also have a good interest in the space I'm finding.

with that - i dont have any formal IT background but I've been looking into getting a compTIA security + cert to increase my knowledge. wondering if anyone else has ever taken it (without taking the first 2 in a+ and network+ i believe they are), what your best methods of study were or how you found the payoff - anything really. (and feel free to throw a brick my way if you think jumping to security+ cert before the others is outrageous).

additionally - if I'm totally off base & you've got some other suggestions - I'm all ears🥊

I've been in enterprise security for a while. Don't know any salespeople with certs.

I got the security+ cert years ago. I still have it on my resume too. Very worth getting for both the knowledge and credibility.

Dang - cissp level for tech sales into security?? Never seen that level - have you seen certain companies that the reps hold this ? Assuming some very technical ones

Hey WR fam, I’ve been navigating the job market for the past 8 months after being laid off, and I could really use your valuable insights and advice. I have just under a year of experience being an AE at a logistics company, I’m looking into software sales but no luck. Any feedback? Thank you.
