OTEs

A lotta talk about the tech recession being behind us

"VC funding is back"

"Startup valuations on the rise"

"2024 product demand is up"

"Quota attainment up"

"tech stocks are ripping" (thanks NVDA)

etc, etc

Is anyone out there seeing this in their job hunt? Has anyone noticed OTEs rebounded? Are people still seeing ridiculous targets?

People who say itโ€™s behind us are out of their minds.

The fact folks are hiring doesnโ€™t matter as much as how much they are paying. OTEs are lower. Benefits are cut. Life costs more and comp doesnโ€™t keep up.

You also would have seen a misleading chart about growth VC funding by round over the last 4 quarters.

So you are saying that a company that sells sales professionals are citing that the market is going up and everyone will need sales professionals?

When I was in the trading floor, whenever someone got on TV to say buy a sector, we would all know that they are looking to sell their position in that sector. Just something to consider.

I'm still getting auto-rejects and hiring managers/recruiters who disappear after an interview or phone screen. So things appear the same as they were.

Things are recovering, but slowly. Reps are being hired. At higher rates? Jury's out.

the problem with "tech" being back is that tech is such a nebulous sector that includes everything from google to the 2 person no product startup and depending what you sell and to who it was never a problem and you survived the layoffs or you sold a nice to have to a and already stingy market and you've been getting spanked the last year

It's simple supply and demand. Although demand is coming back (slowly albeit) Supply is insane out there with many looking for roles and people who took roles to make ends meet are also looking so you have unemployed and employed battling with not enough roles to go around... dog eat dog world.

The people that say that shit are pure and simple click bait.

The end.

Iโ€™ve noticed a bit of an uptick. Will be a while before it levels out to cost of living and whatnot tho

Unless I became a washed up AE, my LinkedIn inbox has been surprisingly quiet from recruiters with outlandish OTE, whoโ€™s with me?๐Ÿ™ƒ

I can't even get an interview, to be honest. It is crazy. I have never dealt with a job market this bad.
