Outbound Automation -- too good to be true?

Long time skeptic of automation for sales outreach, and cringe at the emails I get in my inbox that are clearly written with ChatGPT and basic merge prompts.

That said, been hearing nothing but good things about Clay paired with Smartlead/Instantly

Curious if anyone has tried it themselves and the pros/cons from your direct experience?

Email automation is the fastest way to the junk folder, if it even makes it that far. My corporate spam filter nails about 90%, the junk folder gets about 5%, and the rest is just a "delete" key strike worth of effort.

Anyone considering AI email automation is an idiot.

Also I've noticed I've had to empty my junk folder a few times a day with these emails too. People, I'm just a sales rep. I don't make decisions. Leave me be.

Clay in my experience was pretty neat. I used the free trial to grab emails and LI profiles automatically after attending a conference and only getting names and companies from a list. I can see a lot of use cases for that tool.

It is a bit technical and there is a lot of features that arenโ€™t obvious to use. Definitely requires some finesse.
