Outbound Senior AE to Outbound AE Team Lead

It's likely that a promotion to Outbound AE Team Lead is on the way I'm just worried that the compensation won't be as good as now...


Is that common that Team Leads carry personal together with Team quota?


I actually enjoy giving value to other folks helping them to be successful but just don't want to be struck in meetings all day long for whatever reason and syncing with other team leads.


How would you negotiate this?

I have known a few team leads who still manage their own book of business and then have additional quota. They will likely be kinder on you for missing your own quota and more focused on what you do for the team and team quota: coaching, calls, training, help on the deals, does team have higher quota attainment, are you visible on the calls, are you doing well on forecast calls with leaderships. I am not sure how I would navigate this though as not been in this position myself.

Yeah this is exactly where would I see myself as Player/Coach if that's fair to put it that way.. I had team leads that only do whatever being busy all day in meetings, not being available to the team and lacking competence together with understanding with this product and sales about at all

Team Lead title is and will always be a trap. More responsibility, fake title, no pay increase. It's a holding pattern for when maybe if you're qualified and they need you to move into a management role, unless you also crush your number - which they will want you to stay in seat. So, it's a trap.
