Possibly fake email?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to tech sales (b2c finance sales for 3 years prior)and just hit the phones last week. Not to brag but to kind of brag, I booked a meeting on my second connect and my first conversation (first one said to call back next week). What is strange though is when I asked for his email to book a calendar invite, I was given one that was @ a different company than I thought he worked at .com. The email invite bounced as non existent.

So my questions are, was he so polite that he couldn't say he didn't want the meeting that he gave me a fake email? Did he make a mistake and I should call him back to confirm the email? Should I even consider this a win? Why talk to someone for 9 minutes and not just say I'm not interested?

Any feedback or answers to those questions would be much appreciated!

Happy selling!

Have you looked on the company website? Google? ZoomInfo?

I would call them back and mention that the email bounced "I'm calling back as the email bounced, and I want to make sure I have the correct address".

Absolutely call back. What if it was a typo or a mistake?
I'd also look up the other company out of curiosity. Is it possibly a partner for the target company? Something else?

Maybe you typed the wrong mail? Could it be – I have been adding mails that is not the same as the company, and people still showed up.

Could you call him and ask for the correct one?

Yes, call him back to clarify the situation. There's no need to speculate on the matter.

Call him back, the person could have been one of those people that are just to scared to say "No, we are not interested" and thinks a fake email will correct the problem. Show your persistence and make the call again to either A) Get the correct email or B) Call them out on their bs.

Always call back if there is an issue. If they do not answer try texting

Yeah, probably he's not interested.
Dealt with prospects like these before, I guess they don't want to let you feel embarrassed, so I guess don't bother yourself calling!
