Prospect agreed to meet but declined due to personal leave. He told me he'd let me know when he returned to the office, this was in November

So I'm knocking on the door of hitting quota for the month. I have 2 meetings accepted, pending they actually show. If I set a meeting with this prospect then it will push me into my accelerators.

The conversation we had was relevant, we're working with his largest competitor in his space. He expressed interest in the software.

Am I a dick if I call him? I sent him a few emails (not asking for a meeting) wishing him well. No OOO emails returned back.

Again, this was in November when we agreed to meet.

I'm having a moral dilemma here folks!

Do I call him?

Or call the office to see if he has returned?
That way you don't have the chance of pissing him off if he is still on LOA.

ahh, that makes more sense with what you were asking. Go for it, but like you said, don't be a dick about it and he should react fine.

Are you calling a personal cell or a work phone? I would just pick that phone up and call him.

Not to go off on the deep end here but personally I feel as a salesperson, and I see it in so many salespeople, we spend our time assuming the outcome of something that we havent done and it holds us back from doing what we should be doing. Theres no harm in reaching out to him as long as you go about it in the right way. The answer is always no until you find out it isnt.

Antiaskhole's approach is also a good one but if it were me personally, if you built a reasonable bit of rapport with him on the first round I would reach out in a gentle way.

I called his personal cell in the past. Seems like there's no corp office

That's good to know, if nothing else: "Hey, how has everything been on leave" and genuinely being curious. Might make him even stickier when back.

I would give him a call, checking in. Unless he said call in march and you call in Jan, I do see there being much of an issue

Yeah he just said "I'll reach out when I'm back in the office" but never heard from him.

A phone call wouldn't damage the relationship beyond repair, IMO. If he picks up, you might even get an apologetic "yeah man, I know I've been hard to reach" or something like that. I'd shoot your shot.

You need to reach out, but you can also reach out to other people in the company. It could be he was using up PTO before going to another company

Should it be up to your employer to decided when people start coming back into the office?

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...

I just went on-site with a prospect for the first time in 18 months
