Quota up but no change to commission

Received an almost 3x raise to my quarterly quota today. I'm paid out a percentage of my base every quarter based on the percentage I close. There is no change to my base or commission structure following this raise. I'm making around 4% of every dollar I close now. Selling an enterprise SaaS product with deals ranging for 30-200k.

Is this a sign to start looking elsewhere? Would appreciate any guidance!

Almost feels like orgs are doing what they can get away with. Squeezing every drop they can from those willing to get squeezed. It’s never a bad thing to have options. And it really doesn’t take that much effort. Just gotta dig harder to find them these days.

It never hurts to look if you are starting to feel squeezed. Just don’t tell your current company you’re looking and don’t quit until you have an offer in hand.

We seem to be giving out this advice a lot lately. One thing these companies have is the audacity. 🤨

I would look around, but also, how did you do last year? Did you rush your quota? That might play a huge factor in it and management is just resetting expectations. They might also be looking to have some people volunteer to quit.

Quote attainment was like 25% maybe across the team

So it’s a beatings will continue until morale improves situation. I think a leadership change is around the corner, and this is an attempt to stave it off.

Same happened to me, i kept pushing and closing. Everytime they celebrated my success i asked for money stating that as i continue to do better, my bank account gets smaller. They were completely unaware they didnt change my variable with the quota tripling.

Not saying the same will happen, but just keep seeding and watering that seed. Hate to say it would be better anywhere else right now, If you like the company, ask for more, but im happy where im at.

PS i got my raise 2 quarters in from watering that seed, also 100% to goal

Ugh, can’t stand when leaders do this sort of thing. Curious, was everyone hitting 150%+ before this?

So everyone just took a pay cut. I’d be looking elsewhere.

Definitely warrants an internal conversation and some external job searching imo

I would start testing the water for a 3x raise unless your territory was improved or it was just a ramp plan

First, that’s a pretty steep increase.
Second, you should always have a foot outside the door ready to leave.

Depends. Were you fully ramped and on quota for the full plan year last year?

It is definitely a sign and most likely what they want to happen.

This is positively a sign to look elsewhere.

As a personal policy, I always take interviews. Even if I have just started a new gig.

I was laid off 7 months into my previous ones, and already having a few irons in the fire helped me out tremendously.

This happened to me as well, and I think it's going to happen again next year.

I don't know what to do about it other than ask for a raise and see what happens. The worst thing they say is no.

Definitely, I recommend you to look somewhere else, now it just became only an energy and effort consuming no brainer.
