Recently moved into a new role, did I jump up too fast?

So a little background info. I graduated college in December. I worked as an SDR at a VAR for the last 6-7 months of school. No account manager experience but talked my way into an AM role at an OEM. I moved across the country for my new role alone. I have a good grasp on our products and offerings already and am only about a month into starting.

I am the youngest on the sales team by 3 years and have yet to make any traction with prospects (I know it has only been a month). Does anyone have any advice for me as to how to handle this new role and succeed. Where can I get better personal training on cold calling or appointment setting. Most of the other sales team has been in the role for at least 6 months and gets many opportunities from partners, but I want to succeed without relying on partners.

So - honestly, there are quite a few posts in these forums about good sales practices, so you might want to do a search and take a look.
There's also the sales academy - check that out as an option.
Finally, yes, you definitely want to be able to run and manage your own business, but years of experience leads me to tell you that partners are key to success and having a good relationship with them is a huge benefit. As you ramp up, leveraging them to get your deals moving and get something on the board is going to be key. And during a sales cycle, having the guidance of a partner and the intel about the account you'll get from the partner often makes the sales cycle smoother and the deal size larger. I wouldn't discount their effectiveness too soon.

Your best resource is going to be the search bar for specific tips and tricks. I don't think you jumped up too fast, and definitely think you can sharpen yourself. You're not even off of your 30/60/90 ramp, so try to see if there are any additional training opportunities/colleagues who would be willing to make themselves available to you. No one (ideally) wants to see you fail. They hired you, after all.

@KibaTheProfit: I'm a little confused here. You say you're now in anAM role, but you're looking for training on cold calling and appointment setting?

On a completely unrelated (but very much related) topic, welcome to the War Room!

Well yes I'm only 22 and still need to grow my book of business. Sorry for the confusion, I inherited accounts with my territory, but still need to grow.

Find an internal mentor that you can shadow and learn from. Why don't you want to rely on partners if others are successful doing it?

A difference of 6months isn’t that big of a deal. It you do need to take a look at what you’re doing and what they are doing. If there are any significant differences, make the necessary changes.

Find succesful people and see what they do. Also do not copy everything. I part of it is just being you + a grind mindset. Also iets normal that you still need to get some traction after 1 month

ok so a few things:

i love that you got SDR expereince while in school that is killer. nice job!

- dont go against what others are doing! If they are finding success working with partners, then try to learn how to do that as well. no need to re create the wheel my friend!

- you can also try and find success with more of a cold outbound motion but also try to learn the partner strategy. I would pick up Gap Selling. read / get the audio book. he has a bunch of good tips on prospecting in there.
- start small and focus on 1 or two areas of improvement.
good luck!
and no you did not jump to fast!
