Remote Gig

Hey everyone, starting a new fully remote gig. I was away from the game throughout the pandemic (13 months) aiming for a big comeback. Appreciate any tips, guidance, do's, don't's. Thanks

Have a set work zone (if at all possible)
Take breaks -pomodor or soemthing
Don't eat at the desk (or gradually you start working where you eat, working where you sleep, shitting where you eat, etc.)
Exercise... and take walks outside during the day

Set 10 minute breaks on your calendar throughout the day. Get up, go outside, and have zero screen time. This includes leaving your phone inside.

Do something in the morning other than hop right into work. Give yourself time to wake up, eat, get your coffee going, stretch/exercise.

set small goals for each day and have a good to do list! I like to set small breaks through out the day and stick to them, you'll need them. If your like me and dont set the breaks you will just plough through the day without taking a break which is often detrimental to productivity

Definitely have your devices set to turn work-related notifications off after you stop working. This has been a game-changer for me.

- Don't do any non-work-related shit at your "work" desk
- It's okay to take breaks and run errands throughout the day
- Get 1% better each day by setting goals (as mentioned in other comments) I use sticky notes to set daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals

Have a proper desk with dual monitors is vital for me. I'm in a hybrid model, and I can't imagine working anywhere without it.

Yay! I vaguely remember being a remote hire at the beginning of the pandemic  and starting with only a laptop. I worked this way for almost six months and I still have no idea how I managed 😂

Definitely take breaks and set boundaries on your work time (even if only for yourself). You got this!

don't get distracted. invest in tools to help you succeed outside of what your work provides. do more than the bare minimum.

I am a RSS (Remote Sales Savage) and I freaking love it!  Quick tips for you.  1 on 1 with your manager/direct report every week.  If it's not on them then it's on you.  Don't talk about deals unless you're more than certain you can bring it in.  Go outside and walk.  Ask for meetings with other people on other teams to get a better insight into their day to days and ways to work collaboratively.  Have a cut-off day for deals to turn in verses deals to be worked.  Mine is Thursday unless it's a Hallelujah opp.  Lastly, if you're killing it... ask for more equity.
