@sahil Very interesting take on AI-based emails and AI-cold calls. I barely tolerate the mass emails I receive on a daily basis. But if I start get AI-based robo-calls on the regular, I'll probably just throw away my phone.

The end result of AI based cold calling will not be increased sales. it will be the complete distrust of any call from a number which is not already in your phone.

I'm open to anyone who wants to argue the opposite, but any gains a company gets from automating cold calling like that, will be short term at best.

I don't foresee this unfolding the way he's describing it. I do believe there's some validity to it, but we're not going to have AI SDRs.

We're also at the beginning stages of really tapping into AI so who knows where things will go. If anyone makes absolute claims - they're a fool.

Well we already have robocalls which ask us to “Press 1” to talk to a real person if you’re interested in renewing your car warranty. Including NLP AI is a natural extension for simple transactional sales.

For more complex sales, I don’t see it happening anytime soon though.

Yeah, but those are all scams. Robocalling is very different than the scope of legitimate sales applications. I could be wrong but I recall seeing some legislation being floated around robocalling and I could only imagine if AI is used in that manner in a legit way, there will be a lot of regulation around it. Then again, nobody really knows at this point.

To be honest, I see very little difference between AI robo-calling and a human SDR calling, but reading directly, word for word, from a script/talk track (which is more common than one might think).

Ideally, AI will be used to assist human efforts, not replace them. Unfortunately, I think far too many orgs are unaware of the limits to what a human (especially an inexperience 22 year old) can accomplish in outreach in a given workday or workweek. And managers end up pushing automation to boost KPIs.

Aren't you getting cold emails in your inbox selling AI sales services to you yet?
Because for some reason, they're out there targeting sales orgs, including the ICs they think they'll replace, or the BDRs who work with those ICs.
I called it a while back, bots talking to bots, as already happened in social media; now we'll have business AI talking to business AI. Meanwhile, nothing worthwhile happens.

I did share Air as well. I think it's not about AI replacing sales reps... More so sales reps using AI replacing people who don't. For example what if I could use Air for my own benefit or target it to certain customers. There's AI that allows for face, voice replicas and you could generate endless sales pitches. Like Vidyard. Or if I can automate cold calls and just make AI talk if I'm on other cold call...
For the record it creeps me out and I would allow my voice or face be scanned but others might.

Especially because you could automate an AI to make thousands of calls a day with little to know value. You might get someone to open the door to a call, but without the human aspect, sales just don't happen
