Sales Certificate from Cornell?

I am mid career, switched in to Strategic Account mgmt about 6 years ago for B2B software (prior to that a decade in other internal functions but in tech companies)

Due to changes in boss , motivations and generally quiet team these days - starting to question my future growth.

I have done more account mgmt (sold more to existing clients) and less net new sales (very small number of hunting deals)

looking to sharpen the skillset on the net new side and wondering a course like Cornell may be good? https://ecornell.cornell.edu/certificates/leadership-and-strategic-management/sales-growth/

or are there any other courses you may recommend?

I have been resisting for these type of courses previously as I thought sales is not something learnt in class room, I am looking for opposite arguments as I  might be holding limiting beliefs.

I have one from Harvard Business School. I don't have it listed or talk about it. I'm glad you want to learn, I'm just not sure how far a certificate will take ya.

I thought about getting this certificate as well. Mind sharing a little more insight. How much, how long did it take to aquire, difficulty and value of the courses? Thanks in advance.

My company put us through it. Took a few months. I don't remember much of it.

I'm curious as to why you wouldn't have it listed..

Seems like it couldn't hurt

I don't have Sandler, SPIN, or God knows what other various shit I've been through listed either. I don't think it matters. 🤷‍♀️

Recruiters and Managers may look for things like this. Not everyone feels like they know if someone is a good salesperson or not, so they look for things like this to give them confidence.

Totally get that, but I would look at HBS as having a lot more cachet than the others (deserved or not).

There will always be things to learn in anything. Glad you are looking to invest into yourself. I would check out some of the book threads on here utilizing the search bar. There are some GEMS in there for you to dig into.

Education of any type is never a bad thing.

But I would have to question the ROI vs just reading a few books and being disciplined about implement what you read.

There are bunch of classes you can do at Coursera.com for a flat monthly fee of $39.

The question is: will it have impact. I’m not sure it will with your experience

Honestly…I think adding projects completed on your resume is more valuable than a sales certificate. Truth be told they’re pretty cringey. And every company/industry does sales differently.

If you’re in tech sales, get the certs offered by all of the major companies (or pick a popular one).

If it’s in supply chain sales, get a supply chain cert.

And so on.

I took Top One Percenters Academy. It’s ran by two SVPs of Sales. May be more affordable and they give real world experience

I am sure you could learn a thing or two from courses. the fact that its from cornell i dont think helps.

The MOST impactful thing will be to show results.
So if you find ANY course, could be free on youtube, and then go put it into practice and get good results, THAT is what people will be impressed with.

its kinda why I hate it when ppl are like "i read 100 business books this year" Like, cool but how did that change your results?
