Sales Comp- Question

I feel like this is a no-brainer but I have a question that needs to be answered. Lower base higher commission be higher base lower commission ??

The base isn’t enough for me to switch to enterprise. Plus the deals can take waay too long.

Since the difference is only 4K base with a 30k difference on OTE. And I would prefer the day to day more. I would go Inside over SDR.

I would probably pick which company/team you like more

Most sales people want to move out of the SDR realm as quickly as possible.

i would look at it as SDR v AE.

give up the $4K and get AE role. your next gig after that will have a much higher base than if you take the SDR role homie.

play the long game!!!

This isnt even a question. $4k higher baes to stay in a role where you dont close vs 30k higher OTE and gain closing skills? Why the fuck would you stay as an SDR?

It's $4k. Do your job right, and you'll lose $4k in the couch cushions and not even notice it.

Higher base is almost always better, but do you really want to be an SDR rather than a closing role? You're not comparing apples to apples.

I would almost always take an AE role over an SDR role.

Getting out of an SDR seat into an AE seat is tough. But once you do you're in and the gateway to much higher paying roles opens up.

Think about how much $4K a year is every paycheque, after tax. Is that worth being an SDR and a $30K cut on OTE?!

I don’t see how that could be possible.

I could definitely be wrong - But probably higher base would make more sense to me.

That being said, these numbers sound low for Enterprise SDR, considering the sales cycles.

Nah the first is SDR (cybersecurity) and the other is an AE role (Fin Tech).

If its become AE or stay SDR and the delta is $4k, I'd say go to the AE role and you'll make up the $4k no problem
