SDR Comission Inquiry

I'm working my first SDR job and wanted to know if this pay structure is common or just at my company. My current comission structure is $80 for every demo I get a prospect to attend, and additional $250 if they buy. with a decent base it's a nice payout, but feels strange to be getting so much money when it's very common for the prospect to only join the meeting because they're window shopping and have no interest in actually purchasing the product.

It's built into the CAC, therefore leadership finds it worth paying out for.

Yeah I mean, that's not too different than my prior SDR roles. They are betting that the AE will get enough window shoppers hooked or find the diamond in the rough

My main prior outbound SDR role were 20 per demo and 75 per qualified opp

I know our SDR's make $50 for every demo and then I'm unsure on what they make for if they buy, but overall seems like a pretty decent gig to me. I'm curious to see what other people say about their models

As a BDR getting the prospect to show is the biggest battle and you can’t control the sales process after that. You did your job and there’s a kicker for sales made. In all honesty the model was probably built off somewhere around a 20% close rate anyway.

When I started, I only got for qualifying/booking a demo. Nothing when the deal closed.

We pay $50 for attended meeting, snd 1.5% of bookings that come from that meeting

That seems like pretty good commission. I was paid $40 per qualified lead when I was an SDR a few years ago.

What industry? My company we’re paid on a “point” system. Each point pays $200. Your quota is 27 points per quarter. 28-40 points you get a 1.5x multiplier, anything over 40 you get a 2x multiplier on commission. Points are earned by a meeting you set being considered a real opportunity by the ae, meaning they took the call and it seems like there’s real potential, or a meeting you set leading to a sale (which can be anywhere from 1-3 points depending on deal size). That’s in addition to a 60k base.

What happens after the demo is not your problem.
If you feel like you're making too much $$ you can send any excess my way =)

Would you take a 100% Commission Sales Role?
12% Hell Yes (but the upside better be real)
78% No Way (it's 2021, I need base salary)
10% Maybe (tough to answer without knowing the details)

Should I take a higher paying SDR role that beats the AE OTE of my current company, or get promoted to AE for the experience
