SDRs - Does using local dialer impact connect rates?

Orum did a study on this, and the results are interesting...

4.6% connect rate when using a local dialer
5.5.% connect rate when NOT using a local dialer☎️
Using a local dialer will very slightly decrease connect rates, but not by much. There really isn't a significant difference between the two.

very interesting stuff🤔

btw, not a sponsored post or anything. Just found it interesting🚫

Many local dialers use Twilio or similar VOIP services to achieve the local number.

This means, there is a bank of local numbers owned by the company you're partnering with for local dial.

You ever get the 'Spam Likely' caller ID on your phone? Or the 'Spam Call' on Android? That's where it comes from. There is imperfect (but rather effective) knowledge of which numbers come from VOIP call farms, and which are actually assigned to individuals / businesses.

Scammers buy the same access, to the same numbers.

Not 100% of the time, but very often in my testing with Salesloft and others, I have found the local dial to hit my phone as a likely scam call.

I coach all of our BDR/SDR to make calls from either their company land-line (not some shit like RingCentral, Fuze, Teams, etc... again, all hitting a VOIP farm), or their cell phone.

My highest connect rates are with my cell phone, to prospect / customer cell phones.

I don't use local dialers. Glad you did the test on it as I can't find anything to support one way or the other

I know that personally I laugh when some "local" person calls me from a town nearby that I happen to KNOW has a population of like 74 people. It is so ridiculous.

I don't see any benefit to doing it.

My company's BDRs use local numbers because of claimed increase in pickups combined with autodialing for 250/day for 3 (usually low quality) demos as the KPI. It feels like lying IMO and makes it more difficult to call back that specific BDR. I've always had a company provided phone number in the past and found that is better
