Should I leave?

Hi,

Been in saas sales for 5 years now. Recently switched jobs to my current role (3 months now) and realized this company is not for me. What should I say during my interviews for such a short tenure at this current role?

Yep, honesty, but without badmouthing the current company. It's not a fit - that happens. You were eager to take on the role, but xyz happened, and it's not what you were told it would be (or whatever the story is for why it's not for you).

If you don't have a habit of job hopping (were you at your previous company for some time?) then you should be able to position this just fine. Good luck!

Its all about how you frame it. I would mention specifically what you THOUGHT it was going to be like, and what it ACTUALLY is like. I would also take some blame for not digging in deeper (showing you are humble and willing to see both sides, doesnt matter if its true) and what you are doing differently to avoid that mistake.

I'm also looking to switch into a customer success manager role. How should I communicate how my background/skillset as an AE translates to customer success?

a few skill sets you have that CSMs might want: (assuming these are true)
- you are able to help uncover the true problem that is present and not just the surface level symptoms
- you can communicate complicates process in a simple way
- You have a solid ability to connect problems back to the solution
- Capable to explaining the true benefit of features and not just how they work.

idk just a few off the top of my head.

Also be ready to answer WHY you dont want to be an AE any more, and dont make it sound like you are coming to a CSM role because its easier. that wont work.
