Should reps write their own sequences?

I've seen reps complain when they don't get to write their own sequences and it's a legitimate gripe. Making them use outside sequences takes away some of their ownership/ control of the results.

On the other hand, someone who has build 1,000 sequences will probably do it better than a new rep who has created 3 sequences. plus getting all of the reps on one sequence makes it much easier to see what's working and what isn't.

Let the reps do their thing, or call in a pro to build the sequences?

I think you can have pre built sequences but the rep can have the ability to customize for the Tier A accounts

For top targets, I definitely did my own, though I would borrow anything really well done from the templates.

I think it differs based on your role SDR vs AE.

We had sequences built out that I would then override for my own purposes.

We'd use the ones that were successful in A/B testing. I'd skim them for the basic messaging I wanted and then enhance with my own words.

100% reps should write their own cadence. if they are not actually doing the work then why are they being hired?

Someone still has to personalize templates, make calls, and complete other manual steps.

If you have 5 reps, and one is getting 10x more replies from outbound sequences, would you tell other reps to use that repโ€™s sequence?

yes. i always think reps should be sharing sequences and use what is working.

A mix of both.

The ideal is reps building A/B sequences with others who have done it but with a personal twist.

Others have said it too: there should be a "what's working, what's not" dialogue not just for emails but for sales tactics to build each other up.

Both. If the new rep's sequences work? Why not. Imagine how proud & motivated they'll get when you give them that freedom of contribution.

Allow for both. Some sequences can be used org wide but other's the rep may want to build out a sequence that fits a select few prospects.

I wouldn't rely on a pro. I need to write a sequence that I would be able to pull off. Not something that someone else wrote that suits their demeanour! You get me ? ๐Ÿ‘€

A/B test what your team has as the best one at the moment vs your own slight tweak of the former. That guarantees for the best results and ensures continuous improvement.

We do have a set of cadence but we have a liberty to make amendments to it. We as a team also like to share things that works so itโ€™s easy for us to steal things thatโ€™s working well.

I think providing reps with sequences to play off of is the move. Give them the freedom to experiment and make their own, but have your tried and true sequences always operating in the mix.

At the very least they can serve as a framework/reference point for their custom sequences.
