Someone trying to break into tech sales with no experience would you recommend them to do a sales bootcamp or intro tech course?

People should not pay, or agree to pay a portion of their salary, to land a job. Build relationships with S/BDR leaders, get an internship, go to sales happy hours and hiring events, etc, and hustle your way into a seat.

Thereโ€™s companies that will hire out of college for SDRs, that said you should check out Pareto law recruiting agency to see if they have openings in sales for entry level SDR

People trying to get into tech sales generally fall into one of two categories: 1. new college grad looking for a job and 2. career changers.

Category 1 just needs to network and apply to a lot of places. It's harder now than it was a year or two ago, but still pretty easy. These bootcamps can help, but are unnecessary.

Category 2 will need to network, and probably target SDR jobs at startups. In my experience, even if you worked in sales at your previous job, tech companies almost universally disregard non-tech experience. Bootcamps don't help, and often don't even want these types of job seekers. Remember these bootcamps make their money by being able to place a worker with a company, and if they think a 34 year old former HVAC sales guy will be hard to place vs a 22 year old who just got his undergrad degree, they're not going to bother with the former.

So, in my opinion, no. These programs aren't worth it.

Nothing beats on the job experience, and learning from more tenured colleagues.

Sometimes I feel like it helps people understand the role before committing themselves into tech sales because sales isnโ€™t for everybody

My friend I was you 10 months ago. Itโ€™s difficult but not impossible.

I didnโ€™t have any exp but Iโ€™m a freelance copywriter so thatโ€™s what got a few more looks. My advice is take a course and do anything you can to make it seem like youโ€™ve been here before. Donโ€™t be afraid to ask for the job or ask if they have any hesitations moving forward

Are you asking for yourself or for a friend?

The answer will vary based on the situation. College students can still get internships that won't be available to older reps looking to transition.

Still not sure why you're even asking, because this question comes up over and over and there are a ton of posts with info in them. The reason I'm asking about specifics is to see if there's something different about the situation so that maybe some specific information or advice can be given other than the same info that's already been shared many times.

Iโ€™ve been selling for 5+ years. Have been in selling SAAS for the last year or so. Looking for a individual sales coach to help with the transition. I see a lot of sales academy that I can buy but Iโ€™m looking for 1:1 sales coaching. Anyone have any recommendations?
