Strategies for booking onsite meetings

I'm an inside SaaS rep with the opportunity to fly to my new territory and meet with folks in person. this will be probably be a quarterly opportunity. At this point I'm only a month into my new territory and don't have many existing prospects to call on so I will need to book some net new meetings.  So War Room, my question is - I have never done outside sales, only cold calling and virtual selling. So how do you ask for an on-site meeting?

When you're just getting started, lie. Tell them you're going to be in town visiting a client and have some extra time. Ask if they're free to meet.

"I'll be in your area next month, and would love to meet in person. Can we set that up? Let me know what days/times work for you, and I'll be happy to fit you into my schedule."

You are "visiting a client" in the area, any chance they are free for a lunch is key

Once I have gotten a time booked out I send out a calendar invite to them and include their address in the invite so when I am on the road and it pops up on my phone I have the address right there on my phone and don’t have to search for it.

Also some may not do this but I include an agenda on a few things I want to cover with them when I am in person. So the person knows upfront what we are going to look at covering.

Also this doesn’t pertain probably to your line of work but I am in a different industry and always ask if they can give me a tour of their facility (people love showing off their digs at times) and it lets me see what they are buying from competition and also I will meet new people when I am there to get in further with the company.

Process is no different... DO NOT WASTE THEIR TIME... have something of value to share. Not "just stopping by".

Who is your champion? Do you have someone who can go to bat for you internally? Best bet is to try and get everyone on a call together and see what the miscommunication is and lean on your champion to help handle any remaining concerns from IT.

I would connect with CFO and manager and let them know that the IT director has reached out, even while I'm responding to the IT director to answer the questions.
