The Cadence Chronicles: "Go Wide" Email - Template 2

*Update: while the email template I shared has worked effectively, I've taken notes under advisement. If you have specific recommendations on how to improve the template, please share. I'd like to collaborate to build effective tools with like-minded professionals through Bravado.*

Greetings and salutations,

Thank you for clicking on the second post of the Cadence Chronicles coming to you by the one and only Sales Badger. Ummm... That's me - not the guy in the commercials; though those are thoroughly enjoyable. SILENCE - don't get me off topic.

Sorry for yelling. So you, last week when I posted the first template, I hoped that there would be more interaction - like maybe posting templates you've used? If not - it's all good, just building a playbook, and considering Bravado is full of illustrious sales minds, everyone would benefit from that.

I got templates for days son!!!!

Like this next one. Through testing, I've gotten solid results on a template I've created for getting wide in your accounts. No longer can you depend on just the decision-maker during your outreach. It's like a puzzle, and job titles that are user personas of your products need to be targeted.

To elaborate, let's say you sell medical device equipment to physician offices. The equipment is specific for cardiology. Obviously, we are looking for the DM that handles buying decisions for the account, but goes wider. Who are the users of your product? Let these people guide your messaging to the DM.

Once you've identified those users, tailor the email based on their utilization, and importance to the DM. Users have leverage - it's easy to look past that. It's even easier to lose a sale from it.

Here are the templates:

*italics are to be replaced with industry specific results*

TEMPLATE 1 (Revised)

Subject Line: (Company Name) & (Prospect Name)

(First Name),

A lot of my clients in your role have direct correlation with the results around digital transformation. In working with other (prospect role), we've uncovered some unique ideas around solutions for (pain point).

Assuming you're in a similar position, we could grab a virtual coffee this week (Weds or Thursday before 11) to see if our experiences are relatable. Do you think that would be beneficial to your team?

Great to meet you.

The Badger

P.S. I sent a LinkedIn friend request; if you'd like an introduction to anyone in my network, let me know!

TEMPLATE 2: (Original)

Subject Line: (Your Company Name or Initiative) Feedback - (Customer First Last Name)

(First Name),

Reaching out for feedback about your role in (Company Name).

We are researching the __________ industry, and think your experience brings value to our results.

If we can agree on a time tomorrow before 1:45 PM EST, I have a Starbucks Gift Card with your name on it.

Can you check your schedule to help me lock down a time?

Grateful,

The Badger

A $10 Starbucks gift card goes a long way if you're able to create a pseudo discovery for an employee that might have ties to the decision-maker. You will book meetings with this template, but the most important part is going to that conversations with value - not just a Soy Latte.

Understanding the industry that's relative to this buying persona will prove credibility. Developing a relationship is one thing, but having a champion that's given you full-visibility into the company you serve, that's just straight baller *valley girl voice*

Badger out.

Interesting perspective. I guess thats all about your delivery on the call. The objective is to trade relevant information, and genuinely get feedback.

Appreciate your thoughts - This does work though.

A bit of feedback: this email is focused on you and your company. The benefit of a Starbucks card with a deadline is not a strong call to action.

Flip it to be about the prospect and make them feel important. Toss the gift card in as a PS.

This email, as it is, would get archived right away.

I do appreciate the feedback. Could you provide an example of how you would change it...?

Iโ€™ll send you a venmo request at my hourly rate ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Easy tip: order of address in an email is you, we, me (I).

$10 is not a rate that youโ€™d pay for 30 or 60 minutes of consulting. And, ultimately, that feedback is going to help you refine your approach when you do go to the decision maker.

Be more transparent and tell them what you want to learn, why they are the best person to talk to, and how theyโ€™re going to help.

Iโ€™m not a fan of gift cards, but I guess itโ€™s cheaper than me taking them to lunch or coffee anyways (which I do offer).

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I have never seen a Starbucks (or another company) card buy business.ย  I reeks of being desperate.ย  If there is not business reason to meet, there's no reason.ย ย
Full disclosure - I have been able to buy a meeting with some personally hand delivered cookies (detailed in a former post) but its not a tactic I particularly enjoy.ย  My former company made me do it.ย  It worked, but I wasnt happy doing it.

Yeah id be more curious how the call goes. The schedule, format and template of the call that is scheduled. Because itโ€™s not necessarily the same as a demo right

How many reach outs (email, call, LinkedIn, etc.) with no response does it take for you to take that prospect off your list?
