The Impatient SDR

One of our most tenured SDRs reached out to one of my peers asking for coaching to prep for interviews outside the company. He's literally the most tenured SDR and the next in line for a promotion. Nothing will open up until after the first of the year. He's now burned a bridge with my peer who would be one of the hiring managers when an opening becomes available. I want to tell him (the SDR), but maybe it's better to learn the hard way.

Did you aggressively corner him in a room to ask him about this? SDR's always quake in fear so give this a shot if you haven't already

I think you can tell him if you are buddies but if he already did it the damage is done. Stupid Zoomers

I take it you found out from your peer? If so, I wouldn't say anything to the SDR.

If you feel passionate about keeping this person in your company then maybe you can say something, but otherwise def follow everyone's advice on here and stay out of it

I would let whatever happen, happen as well. If this was me, I'd want to learn that lesson the hard way (I have learned other things not related to greed the hard way and it has grown me more professionally, having to deal with the consequence of my actions). I think a lot of people are like this in my role, tenure usually grows patience but, not in this case I guess.

Sounds like the leader doesnt want what is best for their most tenured SDR. If they are up for promotion within a month and looking for jobs there is something else that occurred. Promises not fulfilled and trust is probably the culprit but it’s hard to know without all the info.
That bridge shouldn’t be burned. SDRs are young in their career. If your peer didn’t use it as a coaching moment then shame on him.
I encourage my team to check the market and know their worth. If truly a better opportunity comes up than I can offer them, I will advise them to take it.
