These recruiters are getting real lazy!

I am dealing with a number of recruiters that are either ghosting me, taking two days to respond to me, or sending me job opportunities that I don't qualify for and when I ask for clarification they ghost me again. Recruiters used to be a lot better than this.

What gives!?

They’re trying to keep their jobs too and they’re pumping those metrics like an SDR trying to avoid a PIP.

Never thought I’d live in a world where KPI meant more than quota. 😕🔫

I’ve never had a good experience with a 3rd party recruiter. They all suck.

Most of my experiences with internal ones aren't great either. LinkedIn and Salesforce are the only ones Ive had positive experiences where I didnt end up working there. Every other company, some big some small, they just ghost.
I know not all recruiters suck but so many do.

I don't know it's laziness or not, but I have pretty much never had a good experience with a recruiter. I had one reach out to me middle of last month. Everything seemed aligned on the role, comp, etc. Said she'd follow up with next steps in the interview process, they want to move quickly because they are eyeing a October 2nd start date. A week goes by, nothing. I follow up, get a response about the hiring team having people out of office, be in touch soon, etc. I followed up a couple of times since, but no response. I can only conclude they've filled the job, or she's been laid off, because there's zero chance I can put a 2 week notice in at my job and start on the 2nd. I would have needed an offer in hand already and I haven't even met the hiring manager.

This was actually one of the more positive experiences I've had with a recruiter. In the rare event I even get one reaching out to me, it's usually "hey are you interested in this role?" and I reply "yes, when can we chat?" and then I hear nothing back.

I still get a huge amount of SDR offerings from them. Why the hell would I ever go back to an SDR role

@saygrace Actually, that's about on par with how recruiters have always been. Just the way it is with them. They don't work for you so they don't answer to you.

But did they really used to be better? Are they just the same now, but overwhelmed because they too are understaffed?
