Thoughts on Linkedin?

I see the same types of posts over and over and have rarely seen any actual conversations or differing opinions. However, I still get some value from posts here and there and it's absolutely a huge part of my prospecting. Anyone else seeing the content itself as more of an echo chamber at this point?

Is Linkedin an Echo Chamber

Content is an echo chamber, I just use it for prospecting like you said. I never actually used LI for content.

I feel like LinkedIn is (in most cases) a big circle jerk. At least that's the imagery always stuck in my mind when I think about LinkedIn

Sometimes but not always. I know people like to rip on LinkedIn here, but I've found some useful content on there

I've read some halfway decent stuff, but I also make it a point to block or unfollow accounts that annoy me as to tailor my feed.

The War Room is great! I think it can be improved a good bit, but the fact that it's got anonymity is huge in avoiding a lot of the echo chamber stuff.

Ive gotten more out of 2 months of war room than years on LI.

Depends on who you follow. Kyle Coleman at Clari puts out some decent stuff, the gong team is good sometimes… mostly it’s become influencers seeking attention and not closing…

Kyle is great and Gong has great content! My feed is mostly sales leaders, marketing leaders (I sell into that space) and generally just revenue team related stuff.

I tend to see influencers from all of those areas and marketers complaining about sales stuff. Ironically, it's stuff like cadence emails that is written by marketers at other companies. That or they complain about being put on a sequence after submitting a form for gated content and then have gated content on their website.

There will always be some decent content on there, but in the last 12 months, the echo chamber/circle jerk culture is pretty nauseating.

for prospecting, it’s good

I saw a new grad post a picture of her with yellow balloons saying "Congrats" about accepting her BDR gig. So yeah I think it's become Instagram lmao

Not always, but definitely see similar types of posts especially from current or previous coworkers.

It would be nice if they had a feature to only show certain types of content (ie saved prospects, coworkers, people you follow etc) so you can easily filter what you want to see. That would obviously mess with the algorithm, but I think it would make the platform more effective.

I do a majority of my prospecting through SalesNav not looking through my feed, but filter features would probably make me look at my feed more.

I've found a couple gold nuggets from LinkedIn but overall I fucking hate it.

Sounds like an echo chamber and you can't be candid for certain things.
